If the same issues are seen across 2 account it usually means the line/ area is the issue here
We can always test the Telkom guest account to make 100% sure though, do you have the details to test?
Can't quite remember them, please PM

Looks a bit odd, you're using the North's primary DNS and then Google as secondary - can you switch to auto assigned DNS to see if the issue is still present?
Can't quite remember them, please PM
I actually have four including
169.1.1.2
8.8.4.4
Not sure if thats what's confusing things here - when setting DNS to auto-assigned do you still see the same issues?
Alternatively, try these as a primary/ secondary.
169.1.2.1
169.1.2.2
Company firewall so the DNS settings are what they are.
I've used these for 6 weeks without a single problem until 7pm two nights back and same time last night - both times whatever the problem was resolved after a few hours.
If the DNS works 100% for 20 hours a day, and then there are problems at 7pm - confirmed by others as well - then the DNS is not the issue.

That means the line/ area can't properly support higher throughput.
If you like, you can switch down to an 8Mbps sync to see if your SNR margins improve at all - but there's no guarantee your throughput will be better.
No worries, we'll need to run a few other tests to see where the issues are coming in.
Not 100% sure around Apple TV, but would you be able to run a traceroute/ MTR when you see issues happen again?
Is this also the only affected service, or are other sites/ services also slow during this time?
I'll try that, but I'm sure there are guys on my exchange with 10 MB lines, I also know the exchange have been upgraded for VDSL.

That time of night I only notice it because the Apple TV goes offline. Some international sites are fine others not available or very slow ie IMDB and any Apple related sites.
My current traceroute to itunes.apple.com - I'll compare it later if the link goes down again :-
Tracing route to e673.e9.akamaiedge.net [88.221.242.217]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

Trace complete.
VDSL may provide a more stable experience considering it'll run via an MSAN, as opposed to a DSLAM.
Sadly it doesn't make a difference if you have a distance issue, if you are out the VDSL coverage area than switching to G.dmt would stabilize the line, its what happened to me. I was connecting a 4mb line on ADSL2+ for about two years, until they screwed up the cable. I could only connect @ 2mb, changing to G.dmt helped to connect my line on 4mb and its stable.
whats the distance between you and the exchange?
I can't quite remember, think it was just under or just over 3 km, will check again later.
