@AfriGuy :

My intuition (alone) initially led me to believe that since Afrihost started this free data after peak hours (for the 1GB free a/c's as well), that it doesn't seem to me, to be calculating accurately.

I took a mental note of 4.70 GB used so far this month, yesterday some time (which I also don't think was accurate to begin with), and this morning before 7h30 did some tech. downloads which just before I logged off were around the 200MB mark - I literally added together what was downloaded & uploaded. However, my account is now showing 5.19GB used, which would indicate a diff. of 0.49 -----> 490MB used, I believe.

Even though you're giving this data away, it leads me to question whether data during normal / peak hours is being calculated accurately, for all your clients. I wouldn't think that my account is an exception, so please do some testing of the after hours data on one of your a/c's I'm sure you have available ... though I can DM you my a/c details, if necessary.

I may start purchasing additional data from yourselves in the next month or two, so would like the assurance that wherever your figures are coming from eg./ie. SAIX ? , they're being accurately recorded / translated in the Client Zone.

Muchas Gracias :p

Heya :)

Not aware of any mis-calculations from our end - usage is measured from our system based on accounting packets that we receive. At worst, these may be delayed a bit which could see some mis-reads. Those are usually sorted within an hour or so though.

Shoot me a PM with your DSL username and some usage breakdowns and I can run through a few things. Normally the best way to pull up some comparative data is to run a bandwidth counter for WAN traffic to see what that comes up.

I especially gave it a lot longer than 1 hour to ensure readings would be fully updated. Right now I'm not even connected to Afrihost so all figs. should be entirely up-to-date. Will send the username after posting this.

Unfortunately, I didn't record usage other than the one I mentioned, but it always seems to me that whenever I've used Afrih., the data used during this off-peak time seems to be quite a bit higher than I took a mental note of, as it's mostly d/loads from TWiT.tv which are easily measurable, as each mp3 or mp4 is a certain # of MB for each show.

Always up for a challenge, I'll reply to your PM in a bit :)

So glad winter is finally here.
That summer FTL man.

yeh love winter myself. BTW, i have given up on streaming during the evenings. Going to wait it out until Telkom can sort out the link at the exchange or upgrade it. When that is, i have no idea.

Nooooo dude :(
Is your latency to your exchange still b0rked?

Nah latency is great, its about 10ms and my jitter is around 1

My speeds though are ridiculous though. 20mbps line, and i sometimes get less than 5mbps, sometimes below 2mbps lol. :D

I have no idea whats happening there.

AfriGuy, my free 1 GB per month and my 100 GB per month is on different usernames, is it possible to put these on a single username? Not very important and not that 1 GB really makes a big difference in the end, but would be nice.

Afternoon Ladies and Gents!

I know that you not everyone here follows us on Twitter and Facebook, so I thought I'd share this here. If you're interested in Raspberry Pi you should check out the newest post on the AfriBlog. ;)

Hello! :)

How can I be of assistance?
Long story short:

Two Telkom techs have now told me I can upgrade to 10 mbps. The one I spoke to today has told that there are already 2 lines in our area on 10 mbps.

BUT

Telkom coverage maps says 4 mbps max and your system at AH says 4 mbps max.

The Telkom tech said I must ask you guys to get hold of Telkom to help me upgrade my line as you guys manage my line.

Please help me to accomplish this.
