I know some people have had some issues with Afrihost after their move to the MTN network. However, if you manage to take away those problems, it's not all that bad.

I started getting crazy slow speeds(like 30-70kB/s download on the 4mb/s line) around the same time the network issues came to light. I was one of the many people who posted on the forums, threatening to cancel my account(and actually gave notice for my ADSL line to be moved back to Telkom).

However, one of their reps got a hold of me during the day. I told him I can't do anything at the moment, as I'm at work. He contacted me later, after hours on a Friday, to sit with me, doing various tests, on various accounts to try and suss out the issue.

After much testing and a lot of time we came to the conclusion that it wasn't an issue with Afrihost at all. So the representative got hold of Telkom, who initially refused to budge that the fault was on their side. The issue was then escalated until they finally admitted that it was due to deterioration at one of their exchanges(Bellville North if you must know), but were unwilling to give an ETA on how long it would take them to fix it, giving stories about them doing it in their next financial year(you know, the Telkom excuses). I was kept in the loop on a daily basis on what Afrihost is doing to escalate the issue further in Telkom.

I'm glad to report that my line is running at near full speed today. It might have been 2 weeks since the issues started, but all considering it paid off in the end.

I'd like to thank Gian and his team, especially Sydney from their support team for all their hard work, patience(through my initial tantrums and shouting) and dedication. Also to Afriman and whoever is manning the Twitter @Afrihost account(I suspect that might be Afriman as well). :D

Same Boat here. Line is back to normal after a few weeks of "MTN migration" issues. Glad I stayed with Afrihost.

One of the reasons why I moved to Afrihost 4 weeks ago is the presence of an active rep on this forum and their willingness to resolve issues.

There were teething issues, but I game nicely on the MTN network now. When I download I get my full line speed all the time. So so far so good. Im happy.
