Afrihost Plus+ launched with free trial

Too late for me. Already signed up to Axxess mobile yesterday and cancelled my Afrihost SIM's and APN's.
 
End of December is end of my mobile accounts with them
 
The website states "Permanent Mobile Data" as a benefit - what is this?

I don't see any mention of the double mobile data - is this an error?

I see the fine print says the following:

"Permanent Mobile Data - Based on Mobile Two Package (our most popular)"

And this means what...?

Same here. Starting to look elsewhere.

Low data prices and 2-for-1 specials are what kept me as a client for 2 years. Now that they're forcing us to pay for that it's a 'game changer' for me. I feel like an idiot for telling friends and family to move to Afrihost because of the their prices.

This probably means you have to subscribe to the R149 (2gb+2gb) package

Way too expensive for a VAS package imho
 
As mentioned in my last email, many clients were very excited about Afrihost Plus+, but many understandably felt we shouldn't launch due to the ADSL problems they were experiencing.

We were honestly not sure what to do.

So last week we asked you to answer the simple Yes-No question:

'Do you think we should launch Afrihost Plus+?'

And here are the results:

22,103 clients answered the question.

82% of those said 'Yes' we should go ahead and launch Afrihost Plus+.

Going on this thread MyBB only accounts for 18% of their clients
Who really wants to pay more for the same thing?

Yeah, after the promotional period a 100 gig capped account is essentially going to cost R349 a month.

The effective topup price reduction to R2.50 a gig is nice though, but I suspect most people try choose a package large enough to avoid having to top up , so the value is limited.
 
This is a real tough one. If I don't get plus then I'll have to change from 75+75 to a flat 100. Not only am I getting less of a cap but I'm now paying an extra R100 for it. So by that reckoning I may as well get the + today which is that 100 bucks but I can downgrade to 50+50 and offset that extra R100.

Confusing. Annoying. But seems to be the only option.

I assume I can change my cap size in future and the double data will always reflect?

Hrm.. Not sure if I will stay especially with the split of having to choose ADSL or Mobile for double benefit (ironic that having it all with one provider now does not work out is ie ++ ;-) obviously adsl is better choice but then makes + offering less useful as data is less on mobile).

I guess it's time to shop around :-/ Since axxess is subsidiary to Afrihost I'm guessing their double data will also be on the way out btw

Look I'm not going to come out and say they are lying but that 83% seems very, very odd...

when does the current double data promo for adsl capped data end???

It feels like they've been using this line the whole year already. Whereas previously they were using it as leverage to get people to 'quickly signup before it ends!', now they're using it as leverage to get people on AH+.

Maybe a tad over-dramatic but it sure feels that way. I appreciate the dbl data - but stop harking on about it already. Make a decision and commit to it.

Be gracious enough to let them do what they like with their business.
The fact is they are dynamic and stretching the norms.
If you want to pay 3 to 4 times what they charge go to Vodacom.

I'm a builder and I enjoy people that create.
There are very few brave people out there. So go Afrihost.

Operation: "Cancel Alles" once my free trial for + is up.
That's ADSL, Hosting and 3G....
Sorry Afrihost its just not working out between us anymore..
I'd like to start seeing other ISP's

We aren't disappointed by the innovation, just the effective price increase. Value adds can be nice, but not when they dramatically increase the price of a 100 gig capped account.
