Seems that dns requests are experiencing some major delays.

Line speed and streams are pretty fast but the problem is getting the sites to open up. Going back - will try again monday.

We know that we'd like to see a slightly better response on the first call, but we usually see very quick responses once our DNS is updated on the second call.

Can you please give me some examples?

Pages take a long time to start loading - but downloading and streaming seem to be running at full speed.

Only reason I could think of would be that DNS requests are experiencing delays.

Definitely sounds possible. One way to test would be to swop out DNS for Google DNS.

Achieved these Speedtest results from regular Afrihost which is excellent for this line (and even more so because it is a Friday afternoon) - will do the same on Afrigreen in a few minutes for comparison

What line speed do you have?

4MB Uncapped

Hey guys

Just a quick one around Twitch - we've implemented some changes and improvements. I've been testing this stream today and seem to see better throughput, no buffering on high for me http://www.twitch.tv/loserfruit.

Could you guys run some tests and report back?
Thanks so much!

Well, I must say I am pleasantly surprised this is the very best Speedtest result my line has ever achieved on AfriGreen, albeit on a Friday afternoon just before the lunchtime bandwidth-congestion kicks in.

Up- and Download-speeds very close to those of Afrhost-regular, and a third ISP I am testing.

Ping at 67ms still not where I would like it, but also the best I have seen from AfriGreen.

Glad to hear you're happy with the results!
Where abouts are you based? It may explain the higher ping.

Afri Capped 50 GB + 50 GB account, 10 Gbps line re-Synched this week by Afrihost Helpdesk / Telkom to 6095 kbps downstream :-\

Cape Town Northern suburbs - yes, I realise the T's and C's of AfriGreen POC did mention there were several extra hops involved to Cape Town,

but thank you AfriGuy something has suddenly gone right since the changes last Friday and a dysmal long weekend bandwidth-wise.

For a 6Mbps line those results aren't too bad. Why did it need to be dropped though, were you seeing poor stats?

Yeah. For the moment anyway.
The reason the latency is higher is because the only POP for Afrigreen is in the North now, so it's got a bit of a round trip.

Testing now. Downloading at 700-800kbps.

Streaming youtube at 720p and 1080p working fine too even while downloading.

Browsing feels a bit slow but not that much.

Will keep testing through the day.

Those are excellent results for a 6Mbps account :)
