Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

Well I have had pretty good service for the past month on Afrigreen. Most of my internet use is streaming stuff from KODI including a lot of live HD TV. Last two days of September were pathetic though but similar to most month-ends on a very congested AH where everybody is trying to grab their last few GB's that they have paid for and will surely lose as AH does not carry over unused data!
Then on Saturday morning things really took a turn for the better.
Streaming all weekend was flawless with everything running beautifully at 1080p and I have even managed some 4k with minimal buffering.
I really hope that AH have, at last, fully opened the taps and that we are back to consistently getting what we pay for after the long, painful, expensive wait?
Please let it be so.

Did you try EU server? Ping to EU usually between 180-220.
No point. My account since closed beta is on US and either way the issue is only with the uncapped account. WebAfrica and Afrihost Free 1GB are perfectly fine.

Morning All

I see a few people posting a poor experience on AfriGreen, and other seemed to have a decent experience. Seems consistent with what we in the team experienced. For some it was decent, others had issues, particularly on P2P and streaming.

We've kicked all the feedback up to the network team to do what they can on the POC infrastructure. I think there will be a lot of focus on the cutover to the new network in the coming days/weeks, but please be assured that we're going to put as much focus as possible on making sure that clients on our POC and production networks have the best experience until we're all on the new infrastructure soon.

Buying time much

On another note - we're giving away rAge 2015 tickets on our Twitter page this week. A set of Double Tickets everyday this week.

Check it out if you haven't already put your cash down for your tickets :)

As many problems as Afrihost has. I can't fault you for trying with stuff like this. Good job.

Now fix World of Tanks pls thx.

Buying time much

Trolling much ;)

On serious note, just keeping everyone up to date with what is happening on this side. As I mentioned, official communications are going to be sent out this week with more specific dates in terms of the production version of AfriGreen going live, cutover from our MTN production network, etc. That should be within the next day or so at the most :)

When demand is not at peak, we're definitely seeing the same great Afrigreen performance in general, and I think that's what we can expect all the time when we're on the full network with the expanded capacity we've ordered. Everything is mostly in place, just need everything to be lit up and most AfriGreen users will automatically be routed the new infrastructure without doing anything from their side :)

Goodbye to this piece of shet company that cant fix their network in a whole year.

Sorry to see you leaving us. I do hope that when things settle, you'll be open to at least giving the full new network a try. If it works for you great, if it doesn't no harm done.

You're welcome to PM me anytime :)

Can't use Teamspeak on both AH accounts. Shows 11% connection quality and 34% packet loss, keeps dropping the connection to teamspeak as well.

Are you seeing packet loss only in Teamspeak? What is your general latency like?

That's really not cool. If you want to edit messages, rather stick to your own. Really not cool at all.
It's been what, over a year of the network not performing... I'm not editing your post to look cool, just pointing out that for over a year Afrihost has been saying the same thing over and over.

We are getting impatient, last night my p2p was scoring a magnificent 7kbps, do you really expect us to just accept that kind of crap?

We are angry and it's about time Afrihost realizes this

I get you are angry, but anyone reading your post may not take the time to compare my original post and may think that this was my reply.

I get that you are angry. I've read your posts for some time now where you've been having problems, even when others have been having a good experience, so I get that you are frustrated. But if we're not being constructive here to work to a solution, we're not going to get anywhere.

With no disrespect to Lara who has been a good sport with reporting etc. Once again Capped users get AfriThanks, Business uncapped get Afri-F-you.

Stuff the guys paying for the "Premium unshaped experience" the POC is already at capacity LETS LOAD SOME MORE ON.

Meh!

That's definitely not the intention. We are shaping as little as possible for a benefit to the Uncapped users, but the only way we can ever give back to Business users is to look at Mystery Bonuses. We also hope to offer some better pricing once we can review on our new network. And of course be delivering a service that delivers excellent value for money, in terms of the experience and data value clients get for their spend. We haven't forgotten Business clients at all - I know that we'll find a way to reward them for their patience and support.

It's not only Afrihost, folks... massive outage across many network operators and ISPs.

Looks like a major DDoS attack - will confirm later.

Thanks for the heads up on this - did not know about the DDoS you mentioned. If you have any more info, please post when you can :)

We have been constructive and patient.

This thread contains more traceroutes and ping tests than I think most isps receive in a year.

There is no end to just how much we as a user are doing to try help.

But anyway... Lets hope you have this sorted by the end of the month if not myself and 15 of my family and friends will be jumping ship and we will advise everyone 2 skip the hassles of AH.

:::EDIT:::

For what it's worth... Sorry for editing your post

Was only on Teamspeak last night. Gaming was fine. Skype voice and video was fine. TS failed on both AH normal and Green yesterday. Team mates on other ISP's had no TS issues when mine was performing bad.

I understand your frustration, and if it does come to that, it will always be sad to lose a client, for whatever reason.

Again, it's best to report from your own experience. The purpose of the thread is for everyone to engage from their own perspective and not on behalf of others in the thread who are free to agree or disagree with you.

EDIT

Thanks for that - appreciate it :)

That's weird. I don't ever use Teamspeak so I'll have to check. Do you know which one you were using?
