Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

Status
Not open for further replies.
I got the same issue late night when i tried to join the same server as you, I have reported it on Afrihost's clientzone, waiting to get some feedback on it. I had to change back to my normal Afrihost account to join the server

Strange... Are you having issues with any other Mweb-based servers?

EDIT: Looks like the Mweb server's aren't picking up the IPs being assigned to AfriGreen accounts as IPs from South Africa.

Well its hard to say, the only mweb-based server i use is when i play Battlefield and i join an Mweb hosted Server.

The server details can be found below

Last night, I changed to the AfriGreen network and I must say......it was a very pleasant experience.
I streamed Netflix on HD........with no buffering.....on a 4 mbps capped account.
I will do some download testing tonight.

I've been having strange issues with FB myself recently. What sort of problems are you having with FacebooK?

It's either slow to load or it doesn't load properly. Having to refresh several times before it loads properly.

My first few tests on 4mbps account:

International - London

4523182914.png

Local - Cape Town

4523187845.png

Youtube streams 1080p no buffering

Downloaded Nvidia Drivers at full speed.

Haven't tried anything else yet,but forgot how fast the internet can be.

Oh my! Those are definitely some positive results!

If you notice any niggles, please let me know!

Shall do.

Just one question. Is latency higher in the South?

Not getting my usual 9ms to games.saix.net and 155ms to www.bbc.co.uk.

For the moment the latency in the South will be a tad higher than in the North, but this is only until we complete the roll-out.

So I was “forced” to use my POC account because the current network has been abysmal for the past two days. The experience on Afrigreen has been worse.
@AfriPeeps – need help assistance here urgently. This is affecting my business.

Location: CPT. Line VDSL 20mbps.

  1. Sluggish DNS resolution – Seeing this on all Web browsing.
  2. Ping to Vodacom CPT 58ms vs expected 9ms – assume this has something to do with IPC routing to JHB first.
  3. MyBB speedtest – DOES NOT WORK. Throwing Latency Error.
  4. Speedtest.net – Local to CPT - throughput is erratic. Speeds fluctuate during tests.
    a. Download - Pre issues achieved a consistent 18.5mbps down. Currently Speedtest STALLS… then restarts some 30s later. Ultimately 14mbps.
    b. Upload– Pre issues achieved a consistent 1.6mbps up. Currently 0.94mbps.
    c. Test results – Unstable. Poor upload.
  5. Mind blowing latency spikes

Your experience on AfriGreen definitely looks to be problematic. Can I ask that you submit those traceroutes and speedtest results via the Submit Issue button on your AfriGreen account in ClientZone. Our Team working on AfriGreen definitely need to see these results and figure out what is going on.

Thought they'd be pulling info off this thread as well.
Did submit via clientzone anyway.
Would appreciate if you could expedite a response.

They do keep an eye on this Thread, but that is more for general feedback. It helps them a lot to have all of the information collated and in one place.

Thanks for submitting the results.

2 Days before my cancellation takes effect, and so far I am not seeing any indications that this network is any better than NTN has been for the past 6 months. Nor do I see that Afrihost will allow Data Roll over to at least match VOX, so if I don't see pure internet joy soon (To use an Afrihost favourite word) I am jumping ship whilst the window is open.
In fact rather than rewarding 5 years of loyalty they expect me to pay to test an inferior network, it is sad that the customer focused Afrihost of old has sunk to such a low level, undeserving of respect, trust or loyalty.

I find the network to be very bursty in nature. I noticed this while doing google play store updates too.
It will jump to full line speed, then all of a sudden go down to 1Mbps, then up again, then down.

Experiencing the same when trying to stream the Tour de France using the Supersport app. The only problem there is it barely gets over 2Mbps ever. Youtube on the other side runs full 8Mbps.

Prioritization not so leka it seems.

Just to be clear, at no point has anyone had to pay to use an AfriGreen account. The overall experience on AfriGreen does seem to be quite a bit better than on our old network, so to hear that your experience does not match it is disappointing. That is partly why we are testing AfriGreen this extensively, so that we can get all these niggles sorted out.

Have you submitted the issues you are experiencing in the ClientZone yet?

This bursting of speed is something we are working on at the moment, and is definitely a priority, there has already been some improvement.

Streaming on SuperSport and the DSTV App is not as good as it can be, and we're working on getting this just right.

As far as I am aware we have to continue to pay for our main Afrihost account and purchase data that is depleted by the AfriGreen usage, therefore, we are paying to test. And some of us are also still paying a second ISP for a usable connection for critical functions that can't be trusted to an intermittent test network.

The overall experience on AfriGreen does seem to be quite a bit better than on our old network, so to hear that your experience does not match it is disappointing.

The old network, at least in the South, had become unusable long ago, to improve on that is easy, it couldn't get any worse. What I was expecting, and the reason I paid for 2 ISP's for so long, is that your test network would restore us to the pre MTN levels, not just take us back to a level that was already degraded compared to my initial Afrihost experience.

That is partly why we are testing AfriGreen this extensively, so that we can get all these niggles sorted out. Have you submitted the issues you are experiencing in the ClientZone yet?

I have only just received my account, and have used it for less than 24 hours, so my initial reaction is to the overall feel and my expectations rather than any specific thing that is wrong. Everything I am experiencing has been reported by others, however if I pick up anything specific then I will go the extra mile to pin it down for you, but as it stands there is so much wrong that we don't even have a solid platform top work from.

As far as I am aware we have to continue to pay for our main Afrihost account and purchase data that is depleted by the AfriGreen usage, therefore, we are paying to test. And some of us are also still paying a second ISP for a usable connection for critical functions that can't be trusted to an intermittent test network.

I have only just received my account, and have used it for less than 24 hours, so my initial reaction is to the overall feel and my expectations rather than any specific thing that is wrong. I'm mainly disappointed to see that you haven't seen any improvement between @Afrihost.co.za and @AfriGreen.

Any feedback you can give us will go a long way in figuring out why this is the case.
