So looks like Gian was lying to all of us about the reason the original Afrihost network took a dump he must have known about this before this whole F/up started! How can a person ever trust Afrihost again or anything any of their employees say! http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/717330-MTN-will-no-longer-‘subsidise’-Afrihost

It becomes a network problem when you sign up too many users because your price is low but your network can't handle the volume!
Why did not one of you made a comment on that thread? As always Afrihost think problems will just disappear if they ignore it! Also as other ISP owners said that so called address of the adsl-prices-and-mtn-relationship is a bunch of twadle!
All I can say after experiencing the last two years a parting ways with MTN would please me - royally!!!So to be clear, you want us to charge more for our ADSL products so that we will have fewer clients?
Afrihost has grown significantly over the past years, yes, and at times we have not been able to keep up with the growth, but that is why we are implementing the AfriGreen and AfriBlue PoCs. Going forward we'll be able to respond and adjust our network as and when we need to, something we
I'm not sure how anyone call the pricing agreement with MTN twaddle since those details are confidential. Assumptions are being made based on the interview and Gian's response which aren't unfortunately grounded in facts.
I for one and I think a lot of your customers will be willing to pay a bit more for a decent working network! All your customers that left since this fiasco started went to ISP's that are more expensive than Afrihost!
Quoting your Chairmain of Afrihost board of Directors “That business needs to relook its positioning. We need to look at what it is Afrihost can offer. It cannot be about lowest price because that’s not sustainable. We need to look at re-positioning it into a value space, offering value versus being the lowest priced,” said Nyati, who chairs Afrihost’s board of directors. :erm:
Look I'm with Afrihost for years and a loyal supporter so don't get me wrong I will be with you guys through this as with all the other times I had problems with Afrihost! All we ask for is not to be treated like a bunch of idiots that don't know what we are talking about and honesty. I am a supporter and always will be as long as Afrihost exist and I really hope you get this sorted out soon because until you close your doors I'm not going anywhere!![]()
Afrigreen seems to drop PPPoE sessions every 30 to 60 mins.
noticed on my server that the up times vary, but never more than 60mins.
Lines stay syned and have been up for weeks with no re-syncing.
Edit: ClientZone shows no dropped sessions through on the logs.
Just noticed "AfriThanks"
100GB Free added to my Capped account....
For the moment everyone on AfriGreen is connecting to the IPC in the North, so our AfriGreen testers in the South and East will have a bit of added latency, but once the full roll-out commences, IPC will be deployed to the East and South ensuring that performance at least matches that being seen in the North.
Which streaming services were you having issues with?
I'm having problems with Twitch (already have been told it's being worked on),Vessel and YouTube.
Twitch is a top priority for us![]()
Are you seeing buggering on Vessel and YT?
Having very slow response on facebook and carbonite, couple of minutes to load
On Vessel it's so slow to load even a 480p video, YouTube has it's ups and downs.Twitch is differently the worse of them all, it's really bad like shockingly bad no matter the time of day peak or off-peak.
Our network team will need to tweak Twitch further, so that's on the list.
I'd like to take a look at some tests from Vessel and YouTube though - what's your ping like, and throughput to those specific sites?
