Do you have a backup ISP to test, or run some tests on the Telkom guest account?
This looks exchange related :(

Tried Telkom Guest account, could not authenticate even though I double checked the pre-configured setup on my router.

On the first day of Afrigreen, ran Youtube at 1080p comfortably with occasional buffering right at the beginning of a clip.
Thereafter throughput all over the place, occasionally can do Youtube at 1080p.

Currently:

Mybroadband Speedtest, 4MB line
Download Speed: 3112 kbps (389 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 483 kbps (60.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 57 ms

Youtube doing 1080p again!

Why did i even bother reading thru this thread......because i had some hope that AH's "new" network would be ..........never mind!!!!

Tonight AH in general is down the pooper ...

AH Green and my regular Business account are both experiencing high latency and mega packet loss ... ... Also cannot stream worth a damn

Afrihost are losing customers, but yet the reps still go off on the weekend. When in crisis it should be all hands on deck....

Agree 100%, I have issues on my normal account, never got an invite to test, and all I get told send test results, response "we are working on it. reboot your router", and then silence. Strange way to run a business, gives a person the impression they really dont give a damn.

So, first post here. Just a quick question.

So far normal account seems to be working alright. Streaming is working great with Netflix and even Popcorn Time seems to be working great.

About to change details to Afrigreen. If the service is sub-par (worse than it is now), does anyone know how long it takes before I can use my regular login again? Just asking as I have some plans for the evening and don't want to be worse off because of the POC.

Any advice for a forum (and tech) newbie?

They aren't locking old accounts yet. So you can switch back to the old one if necessary.

If AfriGreen doesn't perform the way you like it then you can revert to the afrihost.co.za account with no issues....

Great! Thanks for the feedback guys.
Will start testing this afternoon and post results here :-)

Hope your experience is better on AfriGreen than mine.
For me AfriGreen = AfriDead

AfriGreen is worse than the MTN Network, and I thought you could not get worse. Well I am not holding much hope here, Afrihost seem to have lost the plot entirely.

Also had to switch back to Afrihost as Streaming and Youtube was impossible on Afrgreen

So far my experience on Afrigreen on my 6mbps line.

The best: Downloading videos from youtube, vimeo downloading at 1mbps, torrents at 700kbps-1mbps, youtube streaming at 720p no problem.

The worst: Downloading from other http sites drop to as low as 10kbps, torrents at 0.5kbps, streaming anything struggles even youtube at 240p, unable to download and stream (at any quality) simultaneously. Edit* Also line dropping periodically.

Overall: The best can be pretty damn good but not for all downloading. The worst is absolutely horrific.

So far still more bad internet than good.

Sadly with no one on the forum during the weekend, putting up feedback is largely pointless.
