Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

@AfriMan
How do you pick up on issues if very few people post stats of their poor performance? Wouldn’t you need more information than just a complaint that downloads is slow or videos are unable to load?

That's definitely weird. Since Saturday night, after Telkom checked out the IPC, we've received feedback that performance is solid. Can we do a little more investigation on this? Does any account you use perform like this?

Have not really bothered - I don't use the web extensively on a Sunday evening. ;) Time with the wifey to keep her happy after a weekend of gaming...

Will run a couple of tests when I get home this afternoon and let you know.

Morning everyone

Just an update on where we are with our AfriGreen network.

A few days ago, we started seeing poor throughput, and we've been looking at pretty much every contributing factor that could be behind this. Eventually we brought in Telkom to fully test the IPC (we cannot touch their equipment, even for diagnostic purposes). Telkom took the entire network offline very late on Saturday to test and since then I am told the results are extremely positive. I am not sure what the actual technical explanation is for this, I believe it was related to some fibre infrastructure components of the IPC.

So far we're seeing great overall performance, but we want to continue to get more feedback and work on as many individual reports so we can catch any outstanding issues early and make improvements on the fly.

Thanks to everyone who have been posting their feedback continually. Just please remember that the best avenue is using the ClientZone "Submit Issue" button. This way reports can be aggregated and we can determine how many users, on which products and in which regions are experiencing certain issues and prioritise that way. Either way, the team are reading through all your comments and are truly grateful for the honest and clear feedback.

Have an awesome Monday ;)

AfriGreen account now capped... yet 20GBs in MTN account that is now not being touched by AfriGreen.

So, now must top up.

This was the MTN account with Afrihost Plus+ benefits...

Why no 2 for 1 topups on capped AfriGreen account?

We're doing extensive testing ourselves, so we have people in several regions that are running tests on a more focussed basis for us, testing a variety of services and protocols. We aim to pick up issues early and possibly even resolve before anyone even notices on that basis.

Seeing as the data is linked, Just topup your regular account and it should give you access on AfriGreen, since they use the same allocation. If there is a problem, just PM me :)

Awesome - thanks for doing that :)

This time they are NOT linked... the AfriGreen is capped and the MTN is sitting with untouched 20GBs.

PM on its way.

Thanks.

AfriMan I think a lot of customers switched back to their normal accounts when the issue started. I haven't used AfriGreen for more than 10 minutes over the weekend due to it's bad performance.
Let's hope we don't hear it cracking when we all try again.

I don't think this is load related, rather ironing out the bumps on a new network :)

AfriMan

Thank you.

As mentioned in my PM... your almost immediate assistance is much appreciated.

I will give the AfriGreen some proper testing now.

Much of the aggression towards you guys is as a result of pent-up frustration with the current state of things... and this venting does nothing constructive really.

Here's to a positive week ahead for a change...

Let's see what it brings...

I switched back to afrigreen last night, And i was glad to see the saturday nightmare had ended, Will continue testing and give feedback later today (tracerts, throughput and so on)

Coolios, thanks for the feedback dude :)

Not the best results :(
How does this compare to the current network?
I've noticed downloads via torrent are stable and fast.

YouTube is a hit and miss.

Web pages pings are really bad.
But once they load they load fast.

So yes speed is there.

But I really think the latency and ping issues really need to be optimised.

So it's 50/50 compared to the old network.

Speeds are a Def improvement but the ping is just horrific .

The involvement in the POC testing was completely voluntary. We did make it clear that it was a proof of concept, so any client was free to stick with their regular accounts.

I think the idea is also that we pick up reported issues quickly and ultimately this process will tailor the network(s) to our clients needs. So the more people who participate ultimately contribute to making sure that they're needs are included in the overall network performance and design.

Both your POC network and your normal network suck. We are without options....

What should we do??
