Not the same "wow" experience this weekend on AfriGreen. Apple music for example can't even stream beyond 10 seconds without buffering. YouTube auto settles out at 240p, anything higher buffers. Overall speed tests about 20% down from last weekend. Latency excellent (<25ms all hops to 8.8.8.8)

Terrible tonight. Trying to get onto clientzone to log as Afriguy/man/genie requested but can't load the site:

Definitely looks like this is an exchange issue from the results posted. Remember that switching accounts also reset your port and could briefly improve your stats, but sounds like there is come congestion happening here :(

Down in CPT. Performance is awful.
<9mbps on a 20mbps line.
Arrrggggggggggggg.........

@Afripeeps
Spinning aside... This POC is proving massively unstable guys. It's been WEEKS and there's no stability in sight.
Time to try the alternate. Please?!?!?!?

The POC is still undergoing testing and we occasionally shift policies to see if we can improve the overall experience. e only get one chance at this, so we're using this to the full extent to create a unique experience.

When we move in to the next phase, we'll probably see less testing and more users simulating real world conditions and we'll just monitor the rules we have in place.

I submit as much info as I can via ClientZone, nothing seems to get better. Just worse.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.

We really appreciate. The team are definitely looking through all those results and are doing their best to recreate every possible scenario to replicate these issues.

Again third time unlucky... @AfriMan

Issue is with both Afrihost and Afrigreen connections

The intermittent trend seems very consistent over both accounts. Generally when we see a network wide issue, latency problems are more pronounced than this, so I think this may also be influenced by local conditions. Are you testing this over WiFi?

Every damn weekend now Afrigreen is just about unusable it's so slow and the latency on the old Afrihost is so high that it's also not an option. Lucky for me I still have Vox but why the hell must I pay for two ISP's. Afrihost I was always loyal to you but you gave me now no choice but to pick between VOX and Afrihost and so far you fail miserably! Also remember with VOX cutting their prices you are not the cheapest ISP any more and VOX carry over unused Data indefinitely where with Afrihost don't give a damn you just loose what you don't use even though it's your crappy networks fault!

You definitely should not have to pay for two accounts, and I really appreciate that you have been doing so to help us test the new network. I really do want to say that we are super-grateful to clients who are helping us test, but we also understand that you have work that needs doing, or games that need playing, and we don't want our network testing to interfere with your priority internet activities. So I totally understand if you need to do what you gotta do. We'll be here when you want to take a look at us again and I'm confident that the network will be performing well again soon.

Some results from Friday night.

Considering that you're in the South, it makes sense that you''re seeing the extra latency. Not sure what the routing is from PE on Telkom to get to our IPC in Joburg, but imagine it's fibre to Cape Town and then Joburg.

Currently yes, but haven't gamed for the last 3 days. Working on uni projects, all due next week + exams.
Haven't heard a complaint from anyone else in the house either.

Really appreciate that you're still taking the time to contribute here. Any feedback is appreciated, so just let us know what you experience is either way :)

I wonder what the result would be if Afrihost conducted a poll for people who tested the POC network.

We definitely plan to do a lot of polling and surveys. Right now, our feedback loops are giving us a good indication of the sentiment around the POC network. It's definitely overwhelmingly positive at the moment, but still got some work to do to get the network perfect :)

Sounds like you may have a latency issue, but possible not showing on local as much as international. I'll need to see more test results to comment further.

Morning Afriouens, just wanted to check - did you get complaints about latency spiking on your Green network?

I had an issue where my ping would go from a respectable 30 to an astonishing 3000 then all the way back to 30 again. Couldn't pin point the issue, I know the wife was loading apps on FB so I didn't report it. Will keep an eye on it tonight and let you know.

What I do get regularly is when trying to queue for a Dota game, it recommends I choose another region due to latency (1000+). Same with playing Battlefield. Ping is fine, then it spikes and I get kicked because I am not from RSA... :(

Not fun.

Aside from here on MyBB, we didn't see many complaints. Remember that maxxing upload could create latency because of upload traffic required to confirm packets are received, so that is a possibility. Depends on what exactly was happening on FB.

Could you recommend a network sniffer that could possibly detect whether the issues are local or on the wider network?

Wireshark should be able to tell you which devices on your network are using bandwidth. I don't know if there are other good programs out there
