Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

Stream is intermittent. There is no buffering but the stream quality is back and forth. Game latency also tend to jump around. On the 2mb business as well.

Same here, only getting 1 mbps on my 2 mb line. also only 1 mbps line speed when I switch to a test account, although the ping is much better.

Getting sick if this s***!

mmm not sure what is cooking but I just logged onto my Clientzone and it says I have 400 Gigs left for the month on my 100 Gig account ???
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, just wondering if this is a typo :)
OK, that's a little weird.

Could I ask that you PM me? Would just like to look (but not touch) so I can explain what happened :)

Well I sent you a PM with all my information, and you PMed me back saying you did not change anything but you could not see what you was talking about so I sent you a pic of what I was talking about and still I hear nothing ???
WTF is going on, you lost all your marbles or jusy too many disatisfied people to worry about.
I think with the mess with MTN, you guys are at the ass end of the stick and just playing for time!
So what gives ?

Youtube is rubbish atm

ojqNUvv.png

I see a few reports of YouTube but my experience this weekend was generally good. I did not do much testing over Sunday, but it was pretty decent over Saturday.

Will check in on the team on this.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 2356 kbps (294.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 262 kbps (32.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 46 ms
Fri Sep 04 2015 20:55:52 GMT+0200 (SAST)

And yet:
Can't pull more than 0.5 mbps on YT.
Downloading file from sony starts off wonderfully at 450 KB/s for the first few seconds and then drops to 50 KB/s.
Google play store updates run at about 0.3 mbps.

But guess what - yet again I can stream from a particular website at 3.2 mbps no problem (name withheld for fear that performance will "magically" drop for no reason). Same speeds when actually downloading the content from the same website.

And plus my feedback (um....rant) given last night was just ignored by the AH reps.

Apparently I have a fault at the exchange causing congestion, but I am highly confused now based on the results mentioned.

On one hand I am told that congestion affects mainly real time services eg streaming. So how can I stream from that particular website at 3.2 mbps no problem?

And on the other hand I get told that congestion will affect all protocols including non-realtime services - and yet p2p runs at 3.1 mbps even through a vpn routing through uk!!!

I really don't know anymore.
Anyone willing to help me understand this mess would be highly appreciated.

Sorry if we missed a message of yours, if that was on my watch - I am truly sorry.

It's really a good idea to mention sites which work well as well as those that are problematic, because we can then benchmark them and ensure that we don't affect their performance when we run any further testing or make changes. That part is totally up to you.

If there is a fault at your exchange, that will introduce some unpredictability, so it's hard to use results without knowing whether they are intermittently skewed by this. Until the AfriGreen network is in the production phase and there are no known anomalies, it would be hard to distinguish network errors from exchange errors, especially on new Telkom exchanges :(

Noted someone else mention browsing issues.
Seems I've been hit by those.
Something's gone awfully wrong with Google search. It's dead at the moment. Had to use Bing... and I'm depressed. :(

If you can still use Bing, I would say this is probably a Google issue and not a protocol issue.

Can you give me any more info? Are you able to ping or traceroute to Google? What DNS are you using?

Some guy on this forum told me not long ago that Afrigreen is not on IS, contrary to popular belief.

We use a few upstream suppliers, for various components of the network chain. I do believe we're not using IS at the moment though, but I can't confirm just yet.

speeds are down the crapper again this weekend looks like too much managing again
packet loss is at 3 % and latency is 465
what a crappy network

I would really love to see the tests that you are running to determine this. My own results are pretty different, so I would definitely love to compare. I think it would help us a lot to understand why your experience is constantly poor and leading you to complain so often :(

Speed is up and down on YoutTube. See image below. Buffering on 720p60. Tried Vimeo to see if it was a line speed issue, result was constant full speed.

YouTube should definitely have been good over the weekend, seems like there were mixed experiences.

What product are you on - line and data?

Local latencies just went to piece of crap @ around 6:55pm onwards:

That looks a little higher that what we'd like. My download speeds were pretty constant last night, I think I tested around 7pm or so. Will check in with the network team to see if they ran any tests over that time :(

That's odd, the quality shouldn't change mid-stream (for YOuTube at least). Do yo mean the default setting when you load a new vid?

Glad I am not the only one.

Don't believe the network team were running any tests this weekend, at least none that I am aware of, but we'll definitely check out this feedback and see what could have changed.

Yo, I am pretty sure I replied to every one of your PMs and told you that this is a display error in ClientZone which the team are in the process of rectifying. When I checked your individual accounts, it clearly shows the correct data available, so that should be the figure to check going forward.

Not sure what inspired the rant here, if you didn't get or understand my last PM, I do apologise. Pretty sure I have all my marbles - or least all the ones I had to start with ;)

Mine is also showing double the data but I assumed it was due to Afrihost duplicating our accounts to test AfriGreen.
Afrihost gave you 100 Gb bonus data for this purpose.

Yo Afripeeps - I tested this weekend again, if the wifey goes on FB I get massive ping spikes which didn't happen before. As stated before my ping goes from +-50 to 2500+ then back down again after a short while.

Difficult to isolate the issue. It's not when she loads any specific app or anything, it's quite random. Not really a huge issue, just super annoying. It seems like FB takes preference over any other traffic then takes all the bandwidth available for that specific call. Once it fetched the data then it returns to normal, but once another call is made then it spikes again. Not sure if you guys would be able to help with that?

It's a display error on the main tab, but when yo go into the actual product, you should see accurate data remaining, etc.
