Afrihost POC Network - Afrigreen Feedback

I've put in my cancellation, the promises keep coming and nothing ever happens, maybe in a few months/years when your network is finally working the way you guys always say it will, I will come back, in the meantime I am taking my money and running far away from this mess.

:(

Afrigreen isn't at its optimum performance at the moment, when the Afrigreen accounts are moved over to the production network in the next few days, you will see a dramatic improvement and your accounts will be running at a much improved tempo.

Still no reply from AfriFella and AfriGuy on the "review" of my account and responses from ClientZone? I trust I will hear from you folk "in the next few days"

Talking about the "next few days" - In the next few days the deadline for cancelling one's subscriptions to be effective end of October is reached ......

Last night was yet another nightmare on both afrigreen and afrihost (aka MTN) networks ......... I have just about used up my free 1 GB on the WebAfrica account, as I am about permanently logged on to their network to receive some "Pure Internet Joy"

Question: If one hangs on, hoping the miracle cure is as good as you folk are saying it's going to be and the result is a non delivery on the promise, would Afrihost refund me for November if I am not satisfied and decide to move on?

I find these statements a bit concerning "at a much improved tempo", and "it will be hard to see better performance than Afrigreen when it was at it's absolute best" surely all out lines should now run as advertised and at the speeds we pay for, or are the excuses already starting?

There better be freaking unicorns and magical leprechauns too.
You guys will really have to bring the WOW factor.

I think performance is definitely going to be more consistent, it will be hard to see better performance than Afrigreen when it was at it's absolute best. But more consistent performance on throughput and latency, and also importantly, better performance during peak times in terms of shaping for Uncapped accounts, now that we have more direct control and can manage the packet inspection ourselves.

Also, the other benefits, like price, AUP, etc, will also be on the cards one the performance issue is on target. So I think there will be a reinvented DSL offering on the table :)

When is the next few days? Gian sent out his mail on Friday saying within the next few days we will be migrated... now you saying the next few days - after it's been 4 days - next thing we know it'll be December and you'll still be sproting the next few days... yet again I am barely able to do any work...

I've been patient for almost 2 months and the service and support levels has been getting worse, I will be pausing my services from next month onward.

I totally understand your frustration here. Gian deliberately did not give a specific date because there are factors which influence this, technical readiness. I think everyone would agree that a premature cutover could be disastrous for all concerned. We definitely want to push the date as early as possible, but client experience is the most important factor. Putting all our DSL clients in a position where they have no service is just not an option, so if we delay by 24 hours, that's acceptable.

I totally respect your right to do so, and that's why we always stick by our month to month model, client's should have the right to move away if you are not happy. I do hope that you do see that our intention is to do right by you always.

I also believe that if you do plan to come back when things are at their best again, that won't be very long. Just know that you will be welcomed :)

We're still far off, as long as you cancel before the 23rd, you are safe from any billing for November, and I can promise the new network will be live and all the AfriGreen users on this thread will already be on the new network already. You will definitely have plenty of time to decide about November, in terms of staying with us or not.

If you chatted with the guys via PM, they will definitely reply to you. Will pop them a reminder as well. :)

I think we're getting into semantics here, I think the intention was simply to say the network is going to perform better. We know that performance has been less than what we'd like on our old network at times, and we do expect that will immediately be behind us on changeover - we will have more capacity than the old production network and also a more sophisticated and responsive traffic management system to effectively shape Uncapped accounts to ensure that Business and Capped speeds operate at premium.

I think you have clients who are seriously disappointed and we live in hope.

Eeeeek sorry, my bad - PM was sent to AfriGenie and AfriGuy per their request .............. you guys look all the same to me :p

and I nearly incriminated AfriFella :D

We're definitely seeing that and one shouldn't assume that this isn't an important factor in the deadlines we've set and the resources we've pushed into this project. However, if you've watched The Martian, there's a great example of how jumping the gun can destroy all the good work that precedes it. Safety checks are tedious, but absolutely necessary because once we pull the trigger, there is no going back.

I just used The Martian as an example for those who may not have experience in complex technology implementations. I think all would agree that delaying in favour of avoiding potential disaster is better than the cowboy approach :)

Haha, I guess we're guilty by association. AfriGuy says he replied to your PM's though. Maybe check your inbox :)

Big difference is in the Martian he says "I'm gonna have to science the **** out of this."
You guys said "We are going to have t0 turn this **** into science"

That's not the part I was referring to, but I'm sure you know that ;)

I was talking about the launch which they try to fast-track a launch by skipping safety checks. Don't want to post any spoilers here though :)

Nope - Inbox is empty, bar the original message from mybb bot, welcoming me to the forums :(

Maybe he pm'd Igor and not Igor III (we also sound/look the same :D)

Afriman I offer myself as tribute to be allowed into the new network :D, Let me in -_-

Haha! We're only letting select people onto the network. They need to understand that a DSL network is all business, but know how to let their hair down at a moment's notice. I'll drop a hint for you here ;)
