Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

(I have the router Afrihost gave me with the package - Huawei AX3)

Any suggestions on what’s next for me?

I'm also on Metrofibre / Afrhost in Pretoria with the 1Gbps package, and I'm getting these speeds around the clock.
Might be something with Metrofibre in your area. @Afrigirl will sort you out.

Might be worth checking what ONT model you have, as I know MFN has an issue with 1GB speeds on one of their Calix Models.
They just need to make sure you have the model capable of handling 1GB speeds such as the Hanely or 803Gv2
Curently the 803G model will give you that 200-300mbps issue

Very likely yes, recently dealt with a similar issue. After swopping to the 803Gv2 speeds were great again for our client around 930mbps from their 200-300 before the swop

But obviously there are other factors to consider. But that will be my best guess.
 
Comparing Afrihost to another ISP, International bandwidth from AH is down for my 500 Mbps line...the other ISP has much better international throughput - just me? (I tested to London and Canada).

Was comparing to Telkom via OpenServe, which gets closer to 200Mbps to the same remote servers at the time. I am using a 500Mbps line, recently upgraded to overcome this issue and the comparative site on 300Mbps from Telkom.

Local traffic tests run at full tilt, but for international traffic there is an obvious difference.

We use both Liquid and Telkom for transit to reach international networks. For us, the forward path (you to the server) is Liquid Telcoms, from the server back to you is likely Telkom, so the performance should be the same. I will ask the team to check.

I have the same experience - This is supposedly on a 1Gbps/500Mbps line

4 - 7% for true international download speeds
0.4 - 0.6% for true international upload speeds

Even Lesotho and Kenya have terrible speeds
