Afrihost - Seriously.

I don't know what to do anymore. Really.

I messed up and Afrihost messed up and I needed help. It's been 4 days and my client still has no website and another has missing mail.

All I needed was for them to bring up the old server again so that we could fix what happened.

Afrihost didn't copy one of the accounts from my one managed Afrihost server to my new managed server properly. The domain is in Cloudflare an I forgot to update dns (noob mistake, I know) so when the old server got switched off the website went down. I thought to myself: "Oops - need to update dns quick and all will be well". It's been 4 days.

Turns out Afrihost didn't copy the domain across properly. Missing half the folders and the database. So after 4 days of ranting and banging my head against a wall, they bring the server up. Without a cpanel license. So I still have no access. They then half halfheartedly copied the domain that they didn't copy properly across and say "job done!" Nope. No database. They didn't even bother to do a database dump for me so that I could manually get the website back up (even though I pay Afrihost to do this type of thing).

It's been a long hard road. From Afrihost missing 48 domains in the initial move to not copying one across properly. Now I need to ask them to move 24 domains that have been acquired from other servers and I'm so stressed that it's going to be messed up. I have no faith in Afrihost anymore. Unless they are doing this to me on purpose because I'm vocal and complain when things aren't right. You know? Like a waiter spitting on your food.

Supremely disappointing and embarrassing. Just as the sale of my business went through. And now, because of their terrible support, Afrihost might lose out on a client that is 20 times bigger than my business. Well done guys. Well done.

If you are thinking of changing one day, PM me and we can assist with an awesome solution for you - we can even provide a service with up to /24 IP range or bigger (provided of course there is a justification for such a large allocation)
 
A /24 won’t help....
Access to backups or self managed backup would, or some support from the ISP
 
@darktanion - Sorry to hear that. I hope you managed to get sorted with any data that was lost.

They restored the website. Just hoping for them to restore the mail. Should be ok in the end. Just wish I didn't need to have a freakout first. 4 days to get this sorted. I've just put in another request on behalf of the new owners. Lets see if they make me look stupid or if they impress with the turnaround time. I'm hoping for the latter.

While you have access to cpanel it may be time to consider moving your services to another hosting provider.
 
Update:

Things are worse. I think Afrihost are now purposefully trying to hurt by business. They are "spitting in my food" and seem to be doing things out of spite. They switched the server off again and I still haven't gotten the email restored.

I will most likely be getting sued but I know the accountant and have sent her all the transcripts so she can see that I have been trying. Afrihost will definitely be the second respondent in the law suite.

Not sure why they have chosen this route?

Once I'm settled into my new place I will spread the news with the screenshots and evidence of their lies about trying to call me as well as all the tickets and I will tell my whole story a warn people about their business ethics.

People need to know.
 
I even said that I would pay. What kind of company doesn't want to take your money in exchange for service? Spitting in my food. The guys doing the spitting don't care if their bosses lose money. They just get butt hurt when someone calls them out on their shortcomings. Main shortcoming is the lack of communication.

They didn't have a valid license so no access. They said they would sort that out but instead they took the damn thing offline again. I'm screwed now. Its been 5 days and corporates are impatient.
 
Sorry about your problems @darktanion . People really shouldn't host with Afrihost. We still have two servers with them that we'll move one day. Their support is the absolute worst.

Agreed. After 5 days they finally decided to "help" me by charging me an entire month so that I can have access to the server. I would never do that to a client. I said almost 3 days ago that I would pay, even though it is so unfair but they decided to wait till day five to do it. They are horrible. Makes me feel like I'm dealing with Telkom.

They want to sync data now mut all the domains have been on the new server for 5 weeks which means instead on 1 customer missing MAy Mail. ALL MY CUSTOMERS WILL LOSE 5 WEEKS OF DATA!!!!!!!!!

Why don't you phone them instead of posting here? Surely a phone call to a supervisor could get this sorted out in no time.
 
He is not looking for a solution here otherwise he would have posted or at least try in the Afrihost Support Forum.
Lol. I've tried. They only have a call back system which doesn't work. I have screenshots showing my call logs where there are no calls from them but every hour you get a message saying they tried to call but couldnt get hold of me and will try in an hour. The calls never happened.
