Afrihost-Slow Speeds?

Afrihost 10 Gig, Can't download HTTP at more than 20 KB/Sec and generally under 10. What the hell?

Where are you getting your "facts" from -.-? You can download as much as you want on MWEB , there is no such thing as a 200gig limit.

Didn't download at all yesterday because well, i had nothing to DL. Since 7am on he 1st, done 3GB. Average 15.1kb but that is due to the lack of downloading and being connected for email etc.
 
@ killadoob Afrihost is with IS and IS uses Seacom.. and at the end all link into Telkom to reach your adsl router.

For the slow speeds, and high latency...

strange...Ive been having no worries from Afrihost (apart from the zero-torrent connections last week but that was a Seacom issue). Ended up with about 24gb on my 384 account last month with no restrictions or linespeed dropping. Constantly around 32-38 kb/s on torrents and less timeouts from browsing, compared to the start of April.

So far so good...or so lucky rather.

MWEB doesn't shape no matter how much you download. Everyone is treated the same. Everyone is shaped. So if few people DL your speed is fast, if everyone downloads your speed is slow.
 
Well I d/l mostly from 4megaupload.....when I started with uncapped in March speeds were perfect even into April then Seacom started to fail us and ever since my speed on the 4mb line are terrible.
I still need an answer: If I move out to Mweb or any other ISP will I get a refund?
I'm downloading at this moment and speed avg 140KB/S.....now this is VERY bad on a 4mb this time of the morning.
I think all 4mb users must just move out from AH, I don't get a refund then I stay till end of May.

Well my dl speed is faster then yours , but yes as you can see latency is through the roof, and this is between IS and Telkom server.
So related to the above problem.

I had a problem yesterday with speeds too. My line been awesome ever since I signed up for the 4mb Uncapped (with exception of last weeks Seacom probs). But today seems better...

Been on uncapped with afrihost for a month now, man it sucks. Should have canceled before the new month has started, cause I can't use them any longer, to damn slow. Since going over to afrihost I cannot make a skype call, never mind a video call. Have family in Auz, Gabon and Amsterdam, haven't been able to skype them for the last month. Downloading anything tops out at 40KB if I'm lucky, more like a 384KB line it seems. Last month I was able to pull down 16GB only on 4MB line, pathetic to say the least. When I use my cybersmart account everything is back to normal, but only have a 1GB account with them :(
 
Something wrong with your connection @Elvis007. I easily got 100gig last month..... I've done 20gig in 4 days....

Damn, that's nice, well, had telkom at my house yesterday, no problems with the line, sync at 4096 no problems and can dl with cybersmart @ 420KB, with Afrihost not even 40KB...

Are you using torrents??? cause they are shaped to hell and gone. I gave up on torrents ages ago.

Edit: in fact, after installing Win7 X64 on my PC, I did not even bother installing a torrent app!

No, no torrents (got WUG for that, on wug I hit 1.5 - 2MBps so no problems there lol) downloading MS System Center 2010 at the moment. Only a 4.5GB download, taking ages and going at 39.8KB with getright
 
Afrihost 5 Gig account and speeds are also sh*t. Could hardly surf local websites let alone international. Cancelled my account last night. :mad:
 
Still no problems on my 384. Got 44gigs last month, no problemo. At 8 gigs so far this month. Got nothin left to download:) Maybe start with HD eps now, or 1080p movies.

Oh and it was via torrent

That is strange that u guys have so many speed issues, I use the 1 gig account at home (with auto topup limiited to 10gig). I find it even more stable than the uncapped account!
