Afrihost Slow Uncapped

Same problem with Afrihost Uncapped 4MB - getting about 15k/s :(
I still have an IS Uncapped Express account pending cancellation, speed on there is still good.

Spoke to a Tech from Afri, he says that its a port problem on telkoms side with the uncapped account, not all the ports ofc, that is why some is effected and others not, I am in Centurion area, the other ppl thats having issues, where are you located?

They should really have a status page of problems on their website!

Is it only the 4meg line accounts that are affected? Lets wait for the 1st when all the lines get uncapped and will see. They are probably still in the trial period

I take comfort in the fact that this seems to be a problem on their side and that I'm not being "punished" in some way :)

1st:

Directly after reboot:

I'm sending Afrihost an email for an explanation- if they try brush me off or tell me to 'try in 30min', I'll cancel the account. (ticket: VXQ-865695)

Very happy with the account so far. Has delivered when asked.

Located in Durban... and having this VERY slow problem :(...... its not pleasant atm...

Dealing with one of the techs (Faraad) now. He suggested resetting the line. Have done so and now cannot authenticate. He's also changed my password and even with the new details, I'm unable to authenticate. Currently connected using my old Imaginet account via desktop PPPoE session.

resetting the line as in power cycling the router?

The old Telkom trick... unplug line from the Telkom socket. Wait 5 minutes. Plug back in. Watched the router status lights. Saw it come up with an authentication failure. Rebooted router for good measure. Same deal. Dialed up. Checked Clientzone details. Saw that password had changed. Entered new details into router (around the same time as I got the mail from Faraad telling me to do the same thing) and tried new details. Dead in the water.

So, the line is obviously working (otherwise my PPPoE session would fail too) so it looks like something died at the RADIUS side of things.

Holy ceiling cat people, can someone spell "overreaction"?!

By all means, if this is the new permanent speed you're gonna get, then switch providers! But there's no evidence that this isn't just a temporary problem caused by some unforeseen glitch! Events like this have happened before in the old capped days too at all ISPs, who knows what the technical difficulty may be this time around? Relax until you discover that there really is a reason to run around like the sky is falling!

BTW, I'm in Joburg, 4Mbps:
