Afrihost Slow Uncapped

Well yes - we don't have much of a choice anyway. You can't cancel an uncapped afriihost account in the last 5 days of the month.

Afrihost have spent to much money and worked way to hard to build a good name in the industry. They won't wanna give up their title anytime soon.

If it can be done afrihost will do it - is what i'm thinking. They are definitely not purposely throttling 4 meg users to 10-40K/s.

Http 400+KB/s
ftp don't use
rapidshare 400+ KB/s
Torrents Iffy at the best of times but average 140KB/s
News Don't use

We definitely being throttled, and my usage is somewhere over 60gb...

On a 4mb line getting:

http: 30kbps
torrents: 5-10kbps

Just did a speedtest - download speed of 0.23Mb/s and upload speed of 0.43Mb/s...

This is absolute BS

I upgraded to the uncapped account last thursday (25/03/2010), we pay pro-rata so the R497 for the account gets paid at the beginning of next month (April).

Ah yes but I also had to pay about R110 to upgrade from my previous 10gb account to the uncapped...So in essence I guess you could say R610 or so (for march)... R110 paid in march and the balance of R497 in the beginning of april)

Guess that would work out at around R10 a gig....

I love 20kb/s on my 4mb line..... Love it.....

What I don't understand is the following:

IS offer the uncapped express package, Basically you can download at 4mb/s after hours unshaped on that package for R999 and they just limit you (exactly as they've done here might add, exactly the same speed, exactly the same throttling).

Surely, assuming this new uncapped package > that package, we should at least get uncapped AFTER hours for a cheaper price.

[#RIA-XXXXXX]: Dns/Downloads are excruciatingly slow on uncapped

Hi [Username].

I trust that you are well.:)

We have been advised that ther was scheduled maintenace that took place at IS, that affected international speeds, however what has been affecting clients to a large degree has been the telkom line testing , wher clients were experiencing variable speeds & as a result higher latencies & inconsistent connectivity.I can advise having telkom do a re-sync on your line to stabilise your line.
Have a great day & please feel free to let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Warm regards.

OK... SO I AM REALLY F-ING IRATE WITH AFRIHOST NOW! - Blaming everyone else except themselves, If Telkom was testing lines, which I think is bull****, why was it when I used a capped account, from another ISP, everything worked fine. I spoke to my Brother at IS, he says there are always upgrades taking place, none are implemented during the day - that *could* affect it's clients. Afrihost staff think the entire South Africa is gullible, their stupidity is beginning to irritate me, we plebs have EXTENSIVE knowledge and connections, I'm thinking of reporting them to ISPA....! FFS! - Let's not even mention their OH SO AWESOME SUPPORT TEAM.... These generic messages, and when you call you are greeted by some depressed guy, not really in the mood to help, he's been eyeing that lunchbox of curry all day!

lolz! Why is it that it WAS scheduled maintenance yet we ARE still experiencing the problem? xD

Just "resynced" and I got the same result as last night. Good speed tests on speedtest.net for about a minute and now it's turned to **** again. :(

We need some sort of official answer - is the slowness caused by the IS 'issues' or the your over 60GB so we'll throttle you issue.

Tick tock...tick tock....time is running out for them!
