Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Are you sure it is an Afrihost problem and not an exchange issue?

I watched some Netflix and Hulu last night between 19:00 and 23:00 and apart from one or two buffers on Hulu it was generally good.
Yes I'm sure :) As I said, the moment I connect on my (still active) MWeb account, I stream without any issues whatsoever.

8:30 am and shaping kicks in, I have a large web download to do, so lets give "TURBOCHARGE" a go on my 4mb line

Marvelous Afrihost, 85 KB/s.....................so I suppose the turbo has blown as well!

Yay back to 6.25 % shaping!! Love you guys :) And the "live services" are "flying" as promised, 10 more minutes and I will be able to watch a 2 min youtube clip :) Now I know why I got the 4Mb package from you guys!! Stoked

The lack of feedback form the "2013 ISP of the year" is deafening.

4 weeks of shaping now from the "Best ISP"?

Remember last year? They got the award and bam. Internet goes shyte. I get a sense of deja-vu.

Sigh...this is getting old now :(
Very, nevermind having to use my 3G over the weekend to set up my Rasberry PI as not even turbocharge was working. Thank goodness my download queues are empty....

It's getting irritating that you can't rely on solid performance from AfriHost. Some of the reasons I stick with AfriHost is the price and unshaped real time services (like Netflix, etc). The performance has been steadily degrading over the last couple of weeks, and last night, 1 45 minute episode enjoyed no less than 5 episodes of buffering... NOT EVEN AT HD, and buffering...

AfriHost, just sort out your crap! TELL US what's wrong and be honest... This deafening silence and crap performance is making me question whether I'm at the right ISP.

It's heartbreaking to see this thread guys :(
I know we haven't been performing as everyone is used to - but we are looking at every single avenue to have this fixed up.

Please keep an eye on the Home Uncapped thread for more info.

Hi all

Sorry we've been quiet on this thread lately.
I'm running through as many pages as I can to get everyones questions answered. Once that's done, I'll run through my inbox - please shout if there's anything that I may have left out here.

@Afriman, please answer me 2 things, my MWEB account can boost above linespeed, you have said prior (on another thread) it is very strict. your 4Mbps account seems to be unable to reach 4Mbps, e.g. any line performs at 80%. MWEB on 5024 (yes, a telkom line is not 5120) reaches 4 - 4.1Mbps. The afrihost capped on the same line has the same result but my afrihost uncapped account only reaches 3.6??? this is confusing. I realize that over performing with the MWEB account will get me closer to threshold sooner, including yours I presume. The client zone still claims I am unshaped, my estimated monthly usage is 260GB, yet clearly shaped yesterday but thats another story. I think my only alternative here is to gt the MWEB 10Mb AI service and stabilize the line to 5 or 6 to stay within the threshold.

So download speeds on my 10mbps line has been very erratic. Jumping from 8.5 down to 1.7 mbps. So this I logged a fault for online. This morning my internet was down and I get an email (thank **** for my phone) and it says my line was reset or something.... restart my router and my internet stays down.

I call them and after listening to a massively annoying 2 min info thing I get hold of someone. They delete a bunch of port errors or something and I try again... finally the internet is up... then he downgrades or whatever and syncs my line at 8 mbps. I say ok if it will stabalise my line.

Now I have been doing speedtests and i am sitting between and 6 mbps... I am NOT happy about this... at this rate it would be better for me and make more sense to get a 4 mbps business account so that I can be permanently unshaped. I knew I was never going to get full line speed but the current situation does not seem fair to me.

Afriguy, I have sent you a few pm's with trace routes and what not and still have not gotten a reply.

ps. clientzone still says im syncing at 10mbps.

Hi

Sorry to hear this :( Please drop me a PM with your line number and a fault reference number - I'll see what I can do to have this sped up.

I hope the wonderfull afrihost people are enjoying the companies 13th birthday (thats the msg I got, informing me the 24/7 call centre is closed because it is their 13th birthday) while I have totally crappy internet... 720p youtube on a 10mbps line buffers like crazy, downloads are impossible and browsing is a pain... all this after my line was "fixed" this morning... I will start browsing for a new isp tomorrow unless something gets sorted out ASAP!!!

We still had email and live chat options available though :( I've just replied to your last post request some further info on this.
