Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Hulu is prone to buffer, im shaped to hell on my 2mbps line and i watch hulu fine.

what device are you using to stream HULU. 2mbps and hulu is fine, my 10mbps and it buffers constantly. i'm using a ps3 and xbox (not simultaneously) and they both buffer constantly
 
Does anyone know if there is any new news about the bandwidth upgrades? The reason i am now getting regarding my poor connectivity (after months of troubleshooting, new router, cables, machine,etc) is that AH is waiting new network upgrades to improve connectivity. In 4 months my link averaged speeds of up to 60K with the last weekend, getting full line speeds, and back to a crappy connection from Sunday night. Frustrating.

We're hoping they'll arrive shortly but I don't have a confirmed ETA from Telkom just yet :)
 
Any streaming service - Hulu, YouTube, Netflix or anything that is audio or video streaming is not shaped. This is regardless of region, because we have the same overall shaping policies. The extent of shaping may differ, based on regional demand, but the policies applied do not.

Very, very nice. Yes, hopefully this will help us give a lot more back when we review our pricing soon :)
 
So after my ADSL issue earlier this week, during which the call centre consultant changed my speed to 7 mpbs to test, I specifically asked her to please change it back to 10 mbps, because if telkom needs to fix it, they will leave it on 7. She said that she is changing it back...

Well, the internet is fixed, and it is still on 7...Need it to be corrected please. I will refrain from using the consultant's name, as the one that just ditched me on the phone was way worse than her.
 
FFS, i think i'm moving back to telkom, between these ****ing line issues and afrihost i have no idea who the hell is to blame. Every 5mins on my uncapped account i cant ping anything and nothing loads,and constant timeouts when it does work. Connect to 1gb account and everything is fine. Clearly there is an issue with my uncapped account and my line cos my noise margin is all over the place and the line drops at least twice a day for the last month. And this is 2 weeks after telkom came to "fix" my line. **** i give up.
 
Anyone in Gauteng care to share what their shaping policy looks like at the moment?
 
Afriman: So Telkom is reducing the ADSL IPC by another 15% from 1 Feb 2014, I would just like to know if Afrihost is looking at reducing the 10MB uncapped line fees with this new reduction. Every time thus far when there was a IPC price cut the lower packages got the benefit and the 10 MB Uncapped account was left unchanged. I really hope you consider this...

Sorry to hear that. You can use fix my line to set yourself back to the highest sync rate. Or just PM me and I'll sort it ot for you :(

It's hard to say from this. If you reset your connection, you could get normal response for a time, you'd really need to test both accounts for a period to determine this. Even at the highest demand times, we see high latency but there is still connection and some service. To not be able to even ping is very unusual against what we're seeing in general.

I know we have tried a few times to get this sorted with Telkom, but drop me a PM and let's chat about what options you have going forward :(
 
Pretty much just assume that if you are on Afrihost things will be shaped into the ground.
