For those guys still having issues, please reboot your router. We seemed to have implemented a work around which seems to be working.

AfriGuy, under your Business DSL you have the Gold and Platinum Packages.
Now I assume these different levels have to do with data usage?
Also why is there no 4Mbps for the Platinum package?

No, it's different line speeds is all.

It's just the package names, relating to their line speeds. All of the Business Uncapped (and our Home Uncapped packages) are entirely unmetered, Uncapped and have no limits on usage :)

Afriguy do you know when the DSN issue will be completely sorted?

I can't give you an ETR at this stage, sorry :( We have our top guys working furiously on getting things sorted out though. A router reboot may help sort the issue out - we've seen a few clients with positive results.

So everything's working fine again, but without changing my router settings at all, my DNS server appears to still be 8.8.8.8 when dynamically assigned. I'd prefer to use Afrihost's DNS servers rather than the Google ones, are there any ways to do this? A router reset and a DNS cache flush haven't changed anything.

Hi, is there anyone else who has been having some real bad latency and stability issues on Afrihost the last couple of months ? My Afrihost account has a +- 40ms increased ping to EU and constant disconnects when compared to trial accounts from other providers . Everytime I phone support , I have to do a bucketload of tracerts and then they tell me I have exchange congestion when i have a 7 ms hop to exchange. I just don't get this brilliant service that everyone's talking about.

What I have experienced over the years is that depending on your geo location, some ISP's perform better than others.

So my advice to you is to throw loyalty out the window and go with the ISP that works for you, coz trust me, you shouldn't even be in the situation that you are in, and you will end up going around in circles. You've been battling for "months"? Well, I was in your situation once upon a time and got lead by the nose (not Afrihost I must say, but like I say, we/they are all different!), and eventually had enough and moved on, and haven't looked back once!

Since last Saturday it's been the worst I've ever had... Up until about 2 hours ago I've couldn't stay connected for more than 2 hours at a time. Within every two hours, the ADSL would just disappear. Now it seems to be within every hour. Had two disconnects within the last hour

Test with another ISP account and if you still have issues then blame Telkom.

Yeah I think i'm going to cancel then and move back to an IS based provider, Afrihost still does my line and I must say I do like the ease of use by which i can manage it myself. Thank You :)

I had some DNS issues last weekend already. Changed to the Google DNS on Saturday, so yesterdays "outage" did not affect me. I will stay on google for now.
