goes up to 8mbs , still need adsl 2 exchange to sync at speeds , as old ones max at 4mps.
so no way of getting higher than 4 mb/s on my line
Your speeds are controlled by the "weakest" link in the chain. So if either the DP or DSLAM cannot support ADSL 2+, you will not be able to get higher speeds
I have noticed what I wrote above ......... how do I know? I can download up to 50 connections from Astraweb but only 4 from news.afrihost so if I have 4 connections running because news.afrihost is my primary news server and Astraweb my backup and I am on my capped account I get to approx +180 KB/s according to my news reader. If that group has to be got from Astraweb I get up to 40 connections (my max) and +300 KB/sec.

Afriman I just moved my Telkom line to you guys, converted my account from 4mbps uncapped data only to 10mbps uncapped bundled with my telkom dsl circuit. Currently syncing at 6mbps and im hoping you guys can do some magic to get me close to 10mbps, getting 5.1mbps max throughput currently when i do speedtests. Will pm you my user details now.
See my reply. Very strange becuase Telkom show that your DP should be able to exceed 4Mbps. Sounds like Telkom need to upgrade their systems

If after a modem reboot, your modem stats says 6 meg then IMHO don't hold your breath
About 2 years ago I got 10 megs here, I, due to financial circumstances had to drop the line down to 2 meg. I had the LINE bumped up to 10 meg again and now sync at 8 meg! Point is my exchange is capable of 10 meg did 10 meg 2 years ago but now can only do 8 megs! Things change and things happen .........

I suppose it depends on what device you play it. On my Android tablet it buffers a lot. 2 laptops and a desktop all on Chrome no issues, all on 4mbps account. But yeah I also route all my traffic through a mikrotik RB750 with a q tree that balances the bandwidth between the 3 pc's quite well, so i suppose it can have something to do with a router aswell. My one router slowed down my internet to half the speed untill I replaced it with a 1 port modem and rb750.

Hey Afriman, just want to thank you for awnsering all my quastions via PM, back on 4mbps again and crossing my fingers that telkom gets my area vdsl ready in the near future.

Running it on Chrome on my HTPC, been perfect for months, was fine yesterday but this evening it is suffering. First time I have ever had an issue with Netflix. On a 2meg line.

If you use the Hola plugin, it is struggleing here to. http://tunlr.net/ works quite well for me for a free dns service and a bit faster and more stable than Hola currently. Also Unodns gives you a free 8 day trial, might consider that also if you are not already using it.

Last night was buffer central on Hulu and Netflix. Don't know what was up but seemed to come right around 9pm my side
