Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

Strange, shaping is very light right now, except maybe for Gauteng which is just slightly more than everywhere else.

Which region are you in? Drop me a PM so I can see what policy you're on :(

Also being shaped here. Very strange for a Saturday.

I know this might sound a bit obscure, but if I were to download or copy Local Content via my public IP, would it count towards my data usage.

For Example, if I copy a 600MB File over WEBDAV on my local network (the same network on which the webdav server is) using my public IP as the webdav server, will that 600MB count towards my uncapped data?

I have always used a custom DNS to resolve my webdav server hostname to my local server while on my home network, but this no longer works due to this: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/564495-Custom-DNS-Spiking-Pings?p=11284615

Reading this, I see that im useless at explaining what I mean :P Hope it comes across right.

No.
Your network does a [-]local[/-] LAN loopback (iirc that's the right term), which means that if you ping your public IP from any computer it will respond from your router.
You'll notice anyways whether you're copying it to yourself over the internet or over the network. If it goes at 50KB/s, you'd best check :D

Yay ! :P That's what I thought, so I was just hoping my theory was correct. Thanks!

You have no idea how happy I am that I fixed my stupid ping issue. Who knew a DNS server could be so destructive :O

This is promising and great news!

My international ping on League of Legends is 365 from 195 an hour ago! This is bullsh*t! Please help!

This is what happens when I ping LoL server? Is it Afrihost or something overseas?

Guys, just a heads up for anyone wanting to move to the business uncapped "unshaped" accounts. It is not all joy over there. As some of you might know, I moved onto the business uncapped 2mb account during the week, as I could not take the shaping on the home accounts anymore. I want to warn anyone that thinks it will be a good move to really take a look at my post below..

Ok I am really starting to get worried now. This is my current download speed...

Shaping Policy: No Shaping Applied

I am really starting to lose patience with AfriHost..

Just to add to this as well..

Youtube and browsing is fine, just like on the home uncapped. But my downloading is absolutely pathetic!!

I think there must be some shaping involved here... Got to be!!

** EDIT ** WTF!!!!!!

Capture_zps4abb8a7a.jpg

I give you until Monday to fix this. If I do not see an improvement I will cancel. That is it!! I have had it!!

SO PLEASE BEWARE! You will still not get what you pay for, even on the "unshaped" business uncapped package.

Can Afriman confirm when more bandwidth will be allocated to all the new users?
