Would it at all be possible to "change" my 4Meg Uncapped Home to 2Meg Uncapped Business account? Even with the 2Meg drop I'll still be better off without the shaping?

@Afriman - is this possible, or will I have to wait for the next calender month? Both packages are at the same price of R 397?

The system doesn't allow changes of same price to effect in the same month :/
Maybe they can hard-change it though.

Well it does seem that MWEBs guys went to all the ISPs as they are all seeing a pinch, so not as much as you expected, MWEB seems though seems wonderful, you just have to be more conscious that you must not impact the other customers or you use a package better than your line.

I got all my friends on a 1Mb line to use a 2 or 4Mb account. I used 300GB on my MWEB account no throttle as the realistic limit for a 1Mb is 300GB its cheaper to use this on the 1Mb line than what it costs for a unshaped 1Mb. True it should be shaped, true it wont give you better speed. but you surely you can use more data.

I am looking at setting up my wife to use streaming for TV as opposed to DSTV as it will still be cheaper using a 10Mb connection on a 4Mb line. A 4Mb premium 800 + Dstv 700 @ 1500 or uncapped 10Mb AI from MWEB with a 4 or 5Mb line @1359, much better. now what have you, an account that can barely stream 360p. I saw this when I started, i refused to belive it. I should have used the cooling off period. this is not the account I want to use as I am starting to get ADSL in my own house but I used the account I sent you to benchmark.

I cannot believe that JHB is heavier as I am in CT and it is bad, then again I must feel sorry for JHB then if that realy is the case.

Please allow that account to go without the notice so it may too go back to MWEB. at least you can free up some capacity you so desperately need

We still do believe that you're getting the best possible experience under the circumstances. I'm also following up with your PM to see what can be done here. Cape Town shouldn't be seeing as much shaping as JHB is currently experiencing - our graphs show this.

Let's chat via PM and come to a resolution there :)

This account change would be scheduled for the end of the month, if you change the package now. Double check in your ClientZone though :)

Our Business Uncapped and our Capped accounts are a completely unshaped product.

Why should we be forced to upgrade to a more expensive option if the home uncapped accounts were working great till about a month ago?

You've oversold your IPC in JHB and now it seems that nearly all of your customers have to suffer with poor quality internet as a result.

No one is forcing you to move to another package :)
We most certainly haven't oversold any region of our IPC. Again, we're doing our best to make improvements where we can.

Frankly if your network is not working as expected you should not have your network status set to 'fully operational'. It irks me every time I see that when there is evidently a problem.

Our network is functional though, the increase in shaping is not being seen by all users :(

I have just changed my account to the Business uncapped and it shows no shaping in the console, but it still throttles to 25% of my linespeed. Did a router reset. Have sent a support ticket

Our servers will need some time to adjust the account. The latest this will happen is midnight tonight.

So why the sudden drop in network quality especially around Gauteng?

So why the sudden drop in network quality especially around Gauteng?

It's due to higher demand on our network, we've had to shape down the non-realtime protocols to allow for realtime services to be untouched.

extra extra, read all about it! you can now pay up to R897 per month to experience this 80% of the day

Shaping Policy: 12.5% Download/ 6.25% P2P

Ok, so the demand is out stripping the supply, ie. oversold

High demand and overselling are entirely different. We are not overselling on our network, the higher demand is seeing an increase in traffic on our network. In order to curb this and keep realtime services running optimally.

So when do you think the network will be getting back to normal levels? Cause just downloading something that i need for work is a mission.

You know what... After reading through all the forum posts... It seems that all of the uncapped ISP's seem to be struggling. Yes we can all logically point to the fact that a lot of upset MWEB customers left and joined other ISP's but the reality of the matter is that - More and more people are moving over to uncapped services in South Africa because of streaming demands, smart phone demands etc.. With this in light the only way ISP's could still deliver the same uncapped experience in terms of the amount downloaded etc would be if Telkom reduced the price of IPC accordingly (price per Gb that the ISP's pay) - Which they have not done - In that its only logical the ISP's are going to have to use smarter bandwidth management processes and unfortunatley shape and throttle to secure that everyone on their network gets a fair share of the pie. Or... As I noticed with AH and MWEB.. People upgrade their packages and pay more ;P bwehehe - Through it all - The common enemy here is Telkom. We need to start a thread where all the users here on the MyBB community take on Telkom to reduce IPC prices and to introduce Naked ADSL and stop bitching about this company throttling and that company shaping because at the end of the day Shaping and Throttling is going to stay unless IPC pricing comes down.

I also just want to send a massive thank you to both the MWEB and AH representatives - Both have been very supportive and helpful so thank you :) I can only imagine how tough the past month has been for them with all the queries and so forth. But I do trust that things will get better - Even if Gian is forced to make some drastic decisions........

We're working hard on getting things sorted out, as I mentioned earlier i don't have timelines as yet :(
