Shaping Policy: No Shaping Applied
I like, let's hope it stays that way till Monday.
Why don't you guys just define your service and say for example someone on a 4MB line can do 400gig a month and someone with a 1MB line can do 100gig a month etc etc and start kicking off the people that sit and download newsgroups and torrents all day and make life more bearable for the rest of us that doesn't actually abuse the service.

Second straight night im at Shaping Policy: 25% Download/ 12.5% P2P on a 1 meg line. Started of so great with Afrihost . Now the past few days its such bad shaping im getting. I thought the Eastern cape didn't have a problem![]()
We're also pushing more capacity live which should alleviate a fair amount of the shaping.
Interesting. Why no announcement?
Because we haven't pushed anything live, and we don't have an ETA at this stage![]()
So it's still soon?

We don't believe that allocating shaping after x amount of usage really works for our Uncapped. It also won't really be Uncapped anymore then
To add to this, shaping per client usage will also not allow us to keep realtime unshaped.
Keep it this way because Afrihost is about as close to uncapped as you're going to get. Other ISP's uncapped service is more like Softcap.

Remember we didn't hit our limits, just needed shaping in place so we didn't have the network freak out
Thanks for being so understand though, it's much appreciated!
I have to call BS on this. You do hit your limmits every day because even unshaped accounts experience cr@p throughput.
Latency is the first thing to suffer, should our IPC reach the ceiling. Throughput is something we'll need to investigate on an account by account basis![]()
So you are hitting the "ceiling" . Time to raise the ceiling higher or say goodbye to customers...
