I'm pretty sure that whatever state we're in on 1 December will be the state we stay in until 14 January since sweet b*gger all happens over December.

People go away over December and aren't using their internet as much! Historically, things always fly over December!

Hi All,

Anyone in the Plumstead/Wynberg area in CPT getting slow speeds lately. I can't figure this one out...

I can normally download from Youtube at full speed on a 10meg line, but the past 3 or 4 nights its been crazy slow.
I am not shaped:

However my download have been tricking along at under 100KBps.
There's absolutly nothing else downloading at the same time.

This one has got me, can't figure it out.

We are definitely not touching YouTube traffic on the network for any products. Maybe it's an issue on YouTube's side. Has anyone tested with an alternative account to see if there is any packet loss or streaming issues with other networks?

On Axxess 10Mbps uncapped, is this normal?

Tracerts done one after the other, seems like packet loss on international there.

Axxess do their own network management - so it would be difficult to comment here.

Have you posted this on their threads? We're not seeing any packet loss on international as far as I know. My international tests last night showed great throughput and steady latency all night :(

ADSL Router Results (Telkom Exchange to Your Location)
Current Downstream Sync: 1024kbs
SNR: 18.5dB
Attenuation: 15.3dB

DSLAM Results (Your Location to Telkom Exchange)
Current Downstream Sync: 507kbps
SNR: 25.3dB
Attenuation: 36.0dB

Why is the Current Downstream Sync only 507kbps? I have a 1mbs business bundle - line is with AH

"(Your Location to Telkom Exchange)" - I would presume that is your upload sync.

People go away over December and aren't using their internet as much! Historically, things always fly over December!

Point taken but, that only puts a bandaid on the issues since it's only relieved by fewer people using the network. The underlying issue remains and, come January when everyone is back we're right back at square one.

If no ETA's are given before the 25th (last day to cancel), I'll give AH an extra 200gb per month capacity because I'll be at a different ISP from December.

Yay, More capacity for the rest of the Afrihost loyal customers :p nobody will be stopping you buddy :)

People just need to be more patient, the capacity is just provisional and they will probably only be getting there maximum capacity order from Telkom in January or February because of the network freeze. If you not patient enough then you must all go and leave the extra capacity for the loyal clients at Afrihost. :) :p

Or maybe you will be waiting until November next year...who knows.

In any case, if they do ever fix their problems, I will consider coming back. Depending on how the new ISP pans out.

Agreed, more capacity makes me happy... hell i don't even use 200 gigs.

That being said, where is mr afriperson hiding? I need some feedback on why my line has been useless the last few days.

Have been patient since October now. If you want to wait till January of February, you are welcome to do that.

Unfortunately, I would like to use my internet during December and January. I'd like to be loyal to AH, but without ETA's I don't see myself hanging around indefinitely.

If by February they have their capacity sorted I can always come back if I'm not happy enough elsewhere.
Changing back and forth is easy & quick.

No one is going to receive an award for their loyalty

At the moment that won't be a reality. They would sort issues out by than, they very competitive overall compared to the rest of the ISP's in SA. I think it's the best ISP to stay with as the grass will never be greener on the other side but nobody stoping you guys. Just leave me your extra bandwidth when you go out the door :p :) Afrihost are one of the best out there! You don't have to be intelligent to figure that out. Keep up the good work Afriman and Afriguy

I believe we're all entitled to voice our opinions here without having to want leave. Any way you slice it, an additional 2 1/2 months for a resolution is not great. There is a middle-ground between just passively accepting it and leaving.
I am a loyal customer and not planning to go anywhere. That doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.

I guess but like where else do you go. There isn't a handful of awesome service and amazing support ISP's out there

Of course sir. I agree but we need to give a littl more slack to Afriman and Afriguy, they are doing there best and there support is world class :)
