Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt2)

So I noticed that my phone line had no tone on Tuesday and reported the fault. No one has come back to me to tell me what the problem is ect, I called the Helpdesk now and all they tell me is that main line is damaged in the area therefore they don't know the timeline so resolve the problem :mad:... Its amazing how you miss your uncapped line when you don't have it, or cant access it. So Im using my Afrihost Mobile MIFI but I am about to reach my cap already, guess im going to have to topup. Im just glad I got this deal because then I would have been without internet for the period

I hope they repair it before the weekend :(
 
So I still have not heard anything from Afriguy or afriman, after multiple pm's and even an email. Sigh... in fact Afiguy confirmed on this thread that he "hasnt forgotten about me".

I would just like to know whats going on?

Sorry to hear that. Yeah there are so many simple things we don't realise how rough it is to do without.

We're not ignoring you - I got your email with all your test results - but I think you've only PM'ed AfriGuy your actual test results. We'll have to put our heads together when he clocks in on this.

I'm sure we'll figure something out here :)

I've been waiting 5 days for my line to be moved back to telkom so I can get them to move my line. I know it says up to 5 days, but i spoke to a guy on afrihost live chat who has informed me there is an issue with the relocate/moving back to telkom option at the moment. Now i'd really appreciate it if you guys could get this done as I am moving in 2 weeks time and I'd like to give telkom a headstart to moving my line. Any idea on when this will happen?

Unfortunately Telkom has put a freeze on certain line activities until the 25th when they finalise their internal systems. We can't even make certain enquiries until this time.

Drop me a PM and I'll see what it is possible :(

It can take up to 14 days. Mine took about 7 working days.

Which product performs better outright? I'm looking for best overall performance.

Capped DSL
or
Business uncapped?

I'm not interested in torrents, just general usage and a lot of streaming (YT, Netflix HD, BBC, Twitch, etc..) peak and off peak. If my streaming stuffs up I won't be impressed ;)

Use about 150gig/month. (I'm currently with Plugg uncapped)

Normal uncapped should be fine for you as well, but either of those products will be great.

Our Capped and Business DSL products are both completely unshaped, so they'll perform on the same levels.
Looking at what you'll use the account for, our Home Uncapped will also be fine - the accounts are subjected to shaping, however this only ever affects P2P and downloads, not realtime services like streaming, browsing etc.

... Afriguy you have had complaints like crazy over the quality of service when it comes to streaming over the last month... how do you justify your comment?

I was an uncapped home subscriber back in May, but the performance was so poor I moved to Plugg.
I won't look at your Home uncapped for that reason, unless something has changed. So I'm thinking business and capped would be for the more difficult and fussy customer, like me.

We have seen some isolated incidents with streaming, I'll agree there - however the overall experience has been good outside of the shaping. Even during heavy shaping periods - we've seen a lot of client feedback saying that realtime services (including shaping) are all good :)

If you want an account that is guaranteed to never be shaped then Business or a Capped solution is better for you.

What product was this for, Home uncapped? Or all of them, because I don't want to waste my money on it if I can't stream!
