This will just kill the network and you can't not take up new clients either.

I know there were suggestions of canning the free 1gb capped accounts earlier in the thread, is this not a viable option?

@Afriman please give us the detail of the reason Telkom have given you as to why they are unable to do it today

We've looked into a lot of options which could potentially reduce demand without compromising the products as they are designed. We don't believe that Free GB accounts or Double Data caps are significantly impacting the rate of data consumption.

We'll continue to look at whatever options are available to us to improve your experience until the upgrade comes through.

That is all the detail that I have. To my knowledge Telkom have not given us a reason for the delay, they have simply confirmed the postponement and new delivery date.

Cant you give us the ability in the ClientZone to select which protocols we would like to give priority for our account? I don't use many "real time services" anymore so I could free up the priority for someone else that does.

Even though Gian is likely a shareholder. He really should resign. You can blame Telkom, MTN or whoever else you'd like to, the reality is that under his leadership the company has, in recent times, failed to deliver for customers. He has essentially run the business into the ground. It is completely pointless to look at the past. The reality is that, at this very moment, the company is on its knees!

Unfortunately, this still comes over as a statement of blind faith, akin to a belief in the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, or Father Christmas.

Meanwhile the simple science and math of doubling bandwidth allocations is that aggregate data consumption will increase. Just as people's spending will increase when you double their salaries.

I think that's a great idea but requires a lot of dev time and testing. You can install that kind of QoS on your router if you're running an unshaped product like Business or Capped DSL.

You posted this on the Business thread. I replied here:

I'm pretty sure you would get a return on investment pretty quickly if you put in the dev time and testing? Don't you think?

That is ridiculous. Providing a reason is the least they can do.

Is there anywhere we can b*tch at telkom? I understand the situation for Afrihost must suck. Imagine trying to sell ice cream when the farmer won't give you milk (ok weird analogy) maybe if enough of us complain they will do something...
