I also received an SMS - pretty decent of AH considering my email might have been down. It's little things like that which makes a difference - just being kept in the loop about what is going on immediately puts me at ease.

I received an SMS about the issue
 
Time to switch ISP's again, 17hour wait for an initial response to a fault report on a business line. PATHETIC, UNACCEPTABLE, just plain REDICILOUS.

I've had bad service before but this Afrihost tops them all.

I feel you being a bit unreasonable and harsh. Afrihost is doing great in the service department and excel in many other areas compared to other ISP's. Just send Afriman a PM and he will sort you out in a flash :D

Great Stuff. There service is still near the top and will be no.1 when more support consultants are finished being trained :)

I believe these new support consultants will be really swish girls and Afriman will be sure post pics on this thread, so check back often :D:D

Hi guys up and till today I was a happy man. My Kid's worshipped me and my Wife adored me. But the last few days Netflix stops working between 9 am and 5 pm. Which is sort of crap considering that my Wife is on maternity leave and at home watching Netflix. How do I determine that is either Unotelly\Netflix or Afrihost?

I don't know that we had any throughput or latency problems on the network last night. Were any other services coming up as slow?

That's really terrible. We know that we've slipped a lot in our response time (though I believe our quality is still good).

Please drop me a PM, let's get this sorted out for you :(
 
Checks email for message from AH... No, I didn't get one... Although MyBB told me within 5 minutes I wasn't alone once I saw an issue on my connection, and Afriman updated constantly which is pretty much the same thing as a message :)

I think we only sent out SMSes, but a small percentage of these do fail due to carrier issues. You might have been in that unlucky pool :(
 
No problem after hours. Only during the day.

We'd need to do some troubleshooting. Even though we're mainly seeing more shaping in the South, none of our regional networks are showing signs of throughout issues, especially on international.

They have specifically accused Afrihost, implying that if one wants a decent Supersport streaming service, then Afrihost is not the ISP that people should choose. Thanks for the heads up. From the clients who have logged issues with us, we've investigated to the full extent and found no problems on our side, confirmed by MTN's network team. Judging by others experiencing similar problems on other ISPs at the same time, it's very unlikely to be network related.

Why the rep felt the need to mention Afrihost specifically is pretty odd, because it doesn't really seem to further an argument one way or another. Our network is peered with all major networks, as with other major ISPs. The fact that another ISP that is peered experiences the same symptoms as our network (which the rep mentioned he believes is not peered) merely proves that this issue cannot be network specific.
 
I must admit, this is one of the only issues I have with Afrihost, streaming in Supersport has always been bad, even videos on Steam buffer a lot, watching the same video on Youtube it will play 100% never buffers. Something is odd.

I reported these issues, but Afrihost claim they have never been able to replicate it.

The supersport issue is a difficult but we can't see anything in our routing or throughout that would contribute to this. At the end of the day we're peering where we should be (to my knowledge) and if you can stream other services flawlessly then it can't be a bandwidth issue :(

Thanks but still frustrating. The way South Africa plays cricket, with all the streaming you miss all their batting :)
