Hmm... Are you sure it was always syncing at 4M? 390Kbps is about right for a 4mb line, over 400 indicates 4mb data with 10mb line.

My line syncs at 4096kbps, and my downloads max out at 420kB.

SNR Down Up: 30.2dB 27dB
Atten Down Up: 20dB 10.5dB

Oh! Then I was wrong. When I used to sync at 4meg, I would get max 390. Hmm - then I'm not sure

Possibly 5 or 6, seeing that back then - you technically could sync up to 10Mbps - that's the only explanation I can think of. When did the slower speeds begin?

I am positive that I was always syncing at around 4Mb..not sure of the exact numbers though. Definitely could not sync at 5 or 6 :) They started when I saw Telkom laying fibre near my house about 3 weeks ago.

Wow.

Shaping Policy: 12.5% Download/ 6.25% P2P

21h00 on a Sun evening?

Sunday afternoons and evenings are one of the busiest periods on the web.

Hopefully when the new capacity are updated, this will be a thing of the past.
I assume you route through Cape Town.

You know you will be paying out your arse right?

Agree, maybe the 40mb. I've been paying for a 10mb line but getting 4mb for more than 5 years, so what's a little more to get 20mb? The data will be the same.

Something must be up because I have never experienced such bad shaping on a Sunday evening :( Even tried a turbocharge session of 1 hour but that didn't help for the last 20 mins of the session.

Since my area has been upgraded to 40Mb, my 4Mb uncapped connection caps out at 385KBps instead of the 425KBps I got in the past. Thought that maybe it was just me, but checked with a friend in another suburb whose exchange also recently got upgraded and their 4Mb line also caps off at exactly 385KBps?

What the hell is happening?

Really difficult to say to be honest, we did quite a bit of testing on PM and I couldn't pick up what the issue was here. Could be a cable issue that throughput degraded. Just strange that you still not bursting here and there.
