+1 My ping was over 700ms and data transfer speeds are pathetic.

Tried using my FNB account and it is a bit better but still sucky:

I suppose the rainy weather in CPT is messing up connectivity?

Can someone maybe advise on the following:

If I want to move my line from afrihost, +- how long does it take, and will there be any downtime?
 
Afrihost has taken over 6 weeks to move my line back to Telkom, not only that, they cancelled the line completely.

I just used the client panel with a few clicks, as I don't trust humans, they make mistakes (assuming you phoned in your request) :p

One option could be to go capped. If you're on 10Mbps Business you should be R997, and 500GB (250+250) capped is only R999. So two rand more and you don't have a speed rate limit anymore and still fully unshaped.

I signed up for a 20Mb uncapped account, and trying it out at the moment. Hulu streaming is about on par as with the 10Mb account, NNTP downloads are ofcourse faster but I don't really care about that as I prefer HD streaming.

Will monitor and see, and I'll either cancel this or the 10Mb business before the 25th.
 
I had fun today where my internet died for a few hours and would not connect. Then it came back for and hour and was then off another two hours. Waiting to see if it happens again. In other news. I am looking at the prices for 100gb capped. I see that it is promo of 50gb x 2. When this promo ends then I would have to pay 399 a month for 100gb. So now I am trying to decide if I should just upgrade to business instead. Any thoughts?

You'll probably have the same issues with any account as what you're describing sounds like a line fault.
 
Yep been having similar problems all weekend on VDSL 20Mbps in Cape Town

The line should move back at the end of the month, and there shouldn't be any downtime at all. You should also receive SMS notifications from us.
