I am looking at the prices for 100gb capped. I see that it is promo of 50gb x 2. When this promo ends then I would have to pay 399 a month for 100gb. So now I am trying to decide if I should just upgrade to business instead. Any thoughts?

That's terrible. Nothing worse than having no internet. Are you still having that experience? Please PM me so I can help :(

The double data promo runs until end of September, so it's plenty of time to enjoy that. I can't say we'll definitely extend it, but I am hoping that will be the case. Otherwise, you should have plenty of warning in order to adjust your package if the promo comes to an end.

I'm not too sure, but I believe it should be a matter of days rather than weeks. I'm hoping we'll get a heads up from Telkom so I can let everyone know. But I really can't commit us to a date right now.
 
Just logged into clientzone now. Did 39Gb on my 20Mb uncapped account over 5 days, and shaping has been applied

Shaping Policy: 10% Download / 5% P2P

What a fcken joke.
 
Hi guys, I'm keen to try out Afrihost, but want to hear some opinions. I want to get the 4mb uncapped. My current usage seems to be close to 200Gb a month.

How is the service? Is the shaping bad?

I use roughly 50% on digital downloads like Netflix etc. On a 4mb this is not great, so I wouldn't want to have it even worse!

You might want to consider a business account :) Uncapped accounts are great for streaming, but downloads will be shaped with a usage of 200GB :/

Does this mean AH is upgraded too?

It's completely dynamic. So you're shaped depending on how busy the network is. This also depends on your usage, but no - there isn't a set amount of data etc.
It's just that downloads are quite heavily shaped if the usage is high, but streaming is left untouched. What you cold try - is getting a standard uncapped account to try out - and upgrade if needed :)

Also - some people report that netflix doesn't work too well on lower line speeds - due to the overhead that is introduced with the proxy/dns services required. But I don't use netflix, so I can't really report on that :P

Sorry to hear you feel that way.
Remember that shaping is dynamic and based on the overall networks traffic. It does ease up after hours.

Our shaping is very dynamic, so the shaping level on your account does depend on the overall networks traffic as opposed to your individual usage.
Regardless if you're being shaped or not though - realtime services like browsing, streaming, VoIP etc etc are left untouched :)

The capacity has gone live in the North IPC, we're just waiting for the South and East :)

Finally!!! this is the full IPC upgrade for the North? Once South and East are done AH will steam ahead no problem i forgot what it feels like to torrent full speed :P

I am currently on 50% Download / 50% P2P which it's way better than it's been in recent weeks/months.
Will be interesting to see what time it eases off tonight.
