You sure? have never had issue with a congested exchange here. Maybe cause of the telkom people i saw this morning. Also its a sunday, so telkom would be out in force.

What are the viable alternatives to AH?
Let me guess more IPC is needed again in the east.
Hi Afriman
Thanks for the reply, I have sent you a PM with the ADSL telephone number, and afrihost support ticket, I have also forwarded the communications I have received from TelkomZA confirming the exchange and loop length is capable of 20mbps ADSL 2+.
Please let me know
Yes, BUT... His exchange is down the street far from electrical fencing and there is a small Telkom box next to his driveway also about 80m from any electrical fence. Whereas my Telkom box is built into the wall right underneath the electrical fence and I have no issues at all. (Knocks on wood)
First day on new provider, the feeling of being able to browse http without being shaped is... indescribable
Now I know for a fact we were being shafted, & no amount of PR speak will convince me otherwise, I have joined the enlightened & the free!![]()
Don't worry
When I posted this issue on this forum, my intention wasn't to get help from Afrihost as any attempt is completely futile.
My intention was to inform any who is thinking about going with Afrihost that it's probably not a good idea. You people don't have a shaping policy as you shape all the time. I've been shaped non-stop for almost 2 weeks now.
Seriously, have you people even bothered to REALLY look into the plethora of complaints that's been coming through? Have a good, thorough look at this thread, it's SHOCKING to say the least.
I'll be changing IPS's.
Cheers
Between 150 and 250GB a month, depending on if I needed to download games from Steam / Origin or had to format systems, etc. I don't want to go back to capped as my data usage per month isn't constant so I'd need to look to the high end of monthly usage. And with no roll over data, I'd feel like I was throwing away money if I didn't use all of my CAP.
At this rate I'd have to try going over to a different ISP for uncapped, but I've been with OW, MWEB, Telkom and now Afrihost. So far the best service was from Mweb, until they started with their throttling system. And from when I signed up with Afrihost, I've only had about 3 months of joy. The rest were hit with Capacity issues and now this so called "TESTING" that has been going on for more than a month.
This system of shaping all your customers from 8 to 12 is not acceptable.

No, they want you to upgrade to business or buy a capped account.
What are the viable alternatives to AH?
Shaping is not due to IPC issues at all. We are currently testing possible changes to our AUP to offer a more consistent and viable Uncapped product. You should only have been shaped from 7:30am to 10:00pm, and thereafter shaped dynamically, so you should have seen some changes off-peak and overnight.
