Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

I've been noticing performance decreases and increases, depending on the day. YouTube seems to be streaming fine now, where it wasn't before. P2P downloads were very slow a week ago, became fast for a night, then became extremely slow again two days ago. Hopefully these performance variations will be fixed by means of the capacity upgrade.

@AfriMan, what is the reason that Afrihost doesn't offer uncapped test packages?

We do offer referral discounts, and I am also happy to offer discount links. We feel that there is too much abuse on trial accounts, and we've seen even with our Free GB accounts that many people will try to sign up as many free accounts as possible to avoid paying fees.

If we give you something free, it is without conditions, like a Free GB for like, no small print. Since we also have a money back guarantee, it actually works more in a client's favour than a free trial :)

I noticed my capped account is suspended again. If they didn't deduct the money from my account again, I'm going to be pissed

Sorry to hear that :(
Could you PM me your account info so I can see what the reason was for this?

My internet is ****ed. Going to give WA a try if this doesn't improve before 25th.

Sorry to hear that you're still battling. I'm still hopeful we'll see the South upgraded in this month, but until Telkom confirm I can't guarantee an ETA :(

The South upgrade could literally happen at any time, we've even seen IPC go in on a Sunday night. So it could by any time now.
When you last upgraded we didn't really see any improvement so hope that we are not just being strung along once again! Streaming has been very bad for the last couple of days and coupled with your end of month squeeze, to save some unused capped bandwidth, things have been really grim for us faithful sheep.

We usually do see some improvement when we upgrade, even though services may return to normal and not better than they were before. We do expect some similar improvement after the upgrade.

Please let us know when the 'upgrade' kicks in as we might not notice!

Well I can confirm that the internet does feel better the last 2 weeks here, my bandwidth usage have gone down by 30% the last 3 months because of the increase in shaping but as long as real time data feels responsive i'm happy. This is a shaped product and you get what you pay for.

-and Afrihost is doing a hell of a lot better than MWEB ATM, have a MWEB uncapped line as well and the speed gets ridiculous at times...

I'm glad that your experience is better. I think sometimes we focus on the wrong indicators, like the bandwidth counter. The real value of the product is whether you get a good experience when you need it :)

I would like to hereby confirm that our IPC Network upgrades in the South are now officially online and running. Our users in the South should see improvements in their connection speeds as well as latencies.

I can see an improvement in the North - shaping 50% Download/ 50% P2P - has been for most of the day. I would be happy with the service if it stays like that.
