My ADSL performance is quite bad at present. Would you recommend I got new details from you and switched over to Afrigreen, or do you expect the problem with the old network to be resolved soon?

Sure, drop me a PM with your DSL details.

Heya guys

Just a quick update, and to update newcomers :)
We're working closely with MTN on a resolution - currently seeing degraded traffic across both IPC and Mobile links, countrywide.

Afrigreen is stable and working well, so if you are having troubles with your DSL account you're welcome to PM me your DSL username and I'll generate the details for you.
You'll have to update your DSL details in the router - you should only have to change @afrihost.co.za to @afrigreen

I'll have more updates posted as soon as they're made available.

DSL & Mobile update:

This is UNOFFICIAL, I'm posting what I'm seeing on monitoring. I'll have the info confirmed - just posting to keep everyone informed in the mean time.
I'm seeing traffic levels normalise countrywide on both DSL & Mobile links.

This is not a confirmation on resolution - we're monitoring the links closely. I should have more updates shortly.

OFFICIAL UPDATE:

Traffic levels are normalising nicely on both Mobile & DSL links. Our teams will monitor traffic throughput closely for any anomalies.
Thanks again for everyones patience through this, really sorry about the issues here :(

As always, any further updates will be posted here.

Morning all

We're seeing reports of poor DSL and Mobile throughput this morning, looks like the issue from Friday may have resurrected itself :(
If you are having issues this morning, PM me your DSL username and I'll have you moved over to a new DSL network.

UPDATE: Our engineers believe the issue is related to authentication. We’d like to advise clients not to reboot their ADSL routers or Mobile Data devices until the issue is resolved.

Logged a call and my username was changed from ****@afrihost.co.za to ****@afrigreen

UPDATE: We're seeing more and more successful authentications and good throughput numbers. If you're still seeing no auth please reboot your router.

if you guys were going to stick to the new network on a permanent basis, a smarter move would of been to make the new realm @afrihost...

Unfortunately pointing our entire realm is a lengthy process and we want to ensure that our IP addresses are fully rolled out before doing so. Although we shifted massive amounts of users over manually through this workaround, the vast majority of our clients are still on the MTN network.

The full transfer of users will happen within the coming week or so, before the end of the month :)

and even though everyone will be moved to the new network, they will have an @afrigreen username which makes no sense as a naming convention...

We're not really worried too much about the naming convention, we own both realms so it will all end up in the same place. We'll just treat it as a custom realm. We'll probably encourage users to slowly switch back, but there will be no rush :)

when are the migration happening?

The main cutover of the @afrihost.co.za realm is going to be tomorrow. Just remember that we'll repoint the realms and then it will affect you the next time you connect, so you won't need to do anything on your side :)

Hi Afriman/Afriguy

so based on my 2MB line, and your trial account, this is what speedtest came up with. I was around probably 225kbps. Streaming was stable, and the connections were quick enough ie loading a web page and so on via the Afrigreen login.

no major issues experienced in terms of struggling with a connection, granted i could only really test very late last night
