Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Is it just me or has Afrihost been slow lately? I'm talking about the last two weeks or so. I have a 2MB line and a 2MB uncapped Afrihost account and the performance on it lately has been poor.

Games have terrible ping (Battlefield 3, DOTA2) and HTTP downloads in general have been slow. Anyone else experiencing this?

Even their Turbo Charge thingy doesn't help much with pings. (but there is an improvement).

Durban.

I've been having a fantastic or might I say awesome experience with gaming. My ping sits at between 18- 27 ms on local servers and obviously will vary on the actual server I'm connecting to but overall I'm chuffed with responsiveness from gaming and I hardly experience any lag on my side. I'm in the East as well and have a 1 Mb uncapped account. Keep it up Afrihost ;) :) I'm sure you experiencing some sort of exchange congestion but I'm just taking a wild guess. Sure Afriman will kindly be able to assist you :)

Network is down for maintenance in some parts ;) :D I'm not entirely sure what's going on here.

It's really just game ping thats really really bad. Just finished another game of DOTA 2 and got pings between 400 - 2000ms +

Definitely no latency spikes on the network in general at the moment. Looking at your trace, definitely seems to be on the line or exchange :(

Exchange looks like it could be congested or there is a line fault. Spikes and packet loss seem to lean to congestion. What sort of throughput are you getting?

That's awesome - great to hear different experiences, cos it helps us a lot to know where to look (and where not to).

The spikes in latency and packet loss are pretty concerning. This would seem more like a line fault than congestion, from these results :(

I'm on a 2mb line, and everything is working pretty much as I expect - so I'm a very happy new AfriHost client :)

Well, I had issues signing up because my current ISP was dead in the water during the day, the Afrihost call centre were kind enough to assist me with getting activated without having an active internet connection. All in all, I've had a really great experience switching to Afrihost - and I love the little control panel that tells me what I've used and how my service is being shaped (if at all).

That's really awesome to hear :D Thanks for sharing your experience!

Haha Afriguy,

You are definitely having an easy job at the moment :D Hardly anything posted here

Home uncapped for me:
4Mbps Eastern Cape

Edit:
I see some shaping atm: Http 75% and P2P 75%

I'm in the Eastern Cape, close to PE.
Anybody else in the region?

Hi guys up and till today I was a happy man. My Kid's worshipped me and my Wife adored me. But the last few days Netflix stops working between 9 am and 5 pm. Which is sort of crap considering that my Wife is on maternity leave and at home watching Netflix. How do I determine that is either Unotelly\Netflix or Afrihost?

Time to switch ISP's again, 17hour wait for an initial response to a fault report on a business line. PATHETIC, UNACCEPTABLE, just plain REDICILOUS.

I've had bad service before but this Afrihost tops them all.

Since then it has been plain sailing, till yesterday when something went south in the South.
The best part? I received a message from AH, before I even came aware of the problem.
.

Checks email for message from AH... No, I didn't get one... Although MyBB told me within 5 minutes I wasn't alone once I saw an issue on my connection, and Afriman updated constantly which is pretty much the same thing as a message :)

I received an SMS about the issue
