Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

What is your line speed?
I assume 2Mbps?
If you get about 1.7Mbps on speedtest, you should get about 40kB/s.

But I already said that in my opinion those figures in the CZ are not correct, because on P2P I received 50% less on the 6.25% figure. I only received 10 - 13kB/s instead of 26kB/s on a 4Mbps line.

I'm working on figures achieved in speedtests.


I have disregarded speed test results as I have never achieved a consistent result on 2mb. When unshaped, the line runs full speed on torrents and normal downloads.

It's a bit of a slap in face that AH can give all their capped users extra bandwith, whilst squeezing the life out of its uncapped customers.
 
Sorry for late reply, have had a really busy week at work. Yes, must be a deeper issue. Have lost my connection a couple times and web browsing and skype is incredibly poor. I don't have the option to test and tweak my line via afrihost control panel. Should I lodge a fault with telkom to check it out or is there anything else I can do first?

Hi AH team. The capacity upgrade is clearly taking some time. Could you guys please indicate a date (+-) when capacity will be upgraded? I have to decide whether to start looking for alternatives. Thanks.
 
Aah I see - sorry I completely misread that! Then what he should do is sign up for a line, upgrade his uncapped account - then go into the old clientzone, products, bundles, and bundle it :)

So you can bundle a line before it's moved?

Have tried a couple times but it returns no results when doing the trace routes. First time was with peerblocker on. Second time was with nothing on and run with admin. Only have win 8 firewall so doubt that's the problem...

Strange? It should definitely work? And the router? Does it have a firewall?

Net keeps dropping. Dropped last night at 12 for 10 mins and now nothing. Are there known issues with you or Telkom ?

I'm having a similar issue, at around 12:30 this morning my ADSL just died, with AH and WA decided to go to bed. Woke up this morning, all fine.
 
Get a screen shot of running tasks?

Peerblocker often runs in the background - and it has a block / allow HTTP option - set to block by default.


Block isn't on and doesn't appear to be running in the BG. On a positive note my web browsing and skype has been back to normal since yesterday.

These were the results before I "disconnected" the router from the Afrihost account. (Browser does not bring anything... Seems to get to the destination but nothing coming back)

After disconnecting and trying to reconnect to the ADSL account it just wont.
