Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Be assured, if there is no resolution to my complaint or no communication I'll keep on posting here and everywhere until it's done.

Just be aware that this will get you no where... I did the same thing when I experienced massive issues on my 10mbps line and account and all I got was them cancelling my account, moving my line to telkom and giving me the refund (which helped me accept the situation). All without any request from my side to do any of what I just mentioned.

All in all it was a horrible experience.

I have been hoping that things would get better as I have always thought that Afrihost was the BEST ISP. Hell, I was even hoping to move back to Afrihost at some point. But reading the last few pages of this thread now... well... let's just say that I am happy to be with a new ISP even though it was not by my choice.

Do you deny that your operators and managers 'review' clients and leave such notes on the system?

It's entirely possible that someone could, but this was not the case here. The only notes were regarding the lack of confidence, which was also conveyed in correspondence directly to the client.

I think we should also put this in perspective that we had tried to help you over a long period and had been very open with you about what had been occurring. I know that you and I had several conversations over PM and our Critical Care team devoted a lot of time trying to assist you.

Although we did part ways in the end, I think we did do our absolute best to meet your expectations :(

Please understand that I was in no way trying to tarnish the name of afrihost now, or when I made my numerous complaints while I was making use of the ISP. It was only my frustration in trying to find a solution that prompted my actions.

Yes Afrihost and you went quite far in trying to find a solution to my problem. While my line rental and acc was with you. This I have great appreciation for. And I respect you biting you tongue at times (I am sure you did this as I was quite an A**).

It was sadly, somehow, never fixed... As soon as I was with a new ISP though (which will go unmentioned as that is not the point) my problems disappeared.

Granted I don't get the amazing speeds I had while I was with Afrihost but I also dont get 0.7 mbps on a 10mbps line (in other words, my speeds are not erratic at all and actually very stable, gaming and streaming has also somehow been amazing).

I was being honest when I said in my previous post that I have been hoping to return to Afrihost at some point as months of research before I got internet at home did point to the fact that you ARE the best local ISP.

Unfortunately my personal experience was different. Even with a bad taste left behind because of how things ended, I still believed that this must somehow have been a temporary fault in some way or another. As such I have been keeping tabs on this thread in order to gauge when a good time would be to again try and make use of what I thought to have been a good choice initially.

It saddens me to see all the negative feedback though... some very similar experiences to mine, some completely different. I do also understand that a thread like this would mostly attract negative feedback from users who are looking for solutions and not getting it elsewhere.

To end off, I hope that the new capacity would solve all the problems experienced by the current users. Who knows maybe I will return as a customer in a few months when the problems are solved. (although from another post on this thread it seems that might be impossible, cause for a bit of concern).

I really do appreciate that we had many awesome conversations and unfortunately we went through a rough period where your experience eventually reached a very poor quality. I do apologise for that and I know it was a very difficult time for you and other clients. It seems like you're popping in during another period when we're seeing a similar issue - but we're hoping to address this differently by ordering more capacity (overcompensating, in a way) and also laying some contingency plans for any future issues of this nature.

There were capacity issues when I was still with Afrihost... and before then... and now I see there are still issues?

Is it worth staying with any ISP for THAT long when you are not getting the service that you are paying for?

I don't think so.

To be honest, i was unshaped till about this year Jan, then the capacity issues came into play for me. :(

Just a heads up guys if you plan on cancelling your accounts. It does not die at the end of the last day.. as in midnight like any other ISP. It dies round about 3pm and you cant use it for the rest of the day. Afrihost.. shafting you to the very end <insert random smiley>

Does AH reset connections early hours of the morning, usually when the new month begins? My adsl is dead. Posting this from 3G.

AfriMan are there any issues on the network currently? I noticed the last week or so when I am on youtube, 2 out of 4 videos I have to refresh them, otherwise they just buffer very slowly. Once refreshed that grey line buffers ahead like a Ferrari on steroids. It is not my browser as I don't have this issue at work on Mweb. Also streaming from general sites also appear to be a tad slower. Traceroutes and so look normal though.

Yes, they're having capacity issues.
AfriMan, this brings us back to the network notice on the AH website saying everything's fine. You guys seriously need to change that to amber or at least put an asterisk there and inform people of the capacity-related latency issues.

Ahh ok thank you, I did see someone mention this a page or 2 back, but honestly I'm a few pages behind since I was last here lol. When I saw capacity issues I thought Western Cape area, I'm in Pretoria East. (Just saying in case you thought I was somewhere else that have capacity issues) :) But I'm guessing the users that left mweb regarding the throttle issues had to be in the 100's if not thousands and Afrihost being rated ISP of the year also attracts more customers. It had to fold sometime with all the added clients, but then again one can argue if they saw their client base grow out of control they should get more bandwidth as the business grows. Still better than Mweb when Seacom dies tbh.

There is this thread on another gaming forum where you state your highs and lows of the day.

High: I've been using a borrowed uncapped account the last 4 or 5 days in March, which worked as it should.
Low: I'm back on AH uncapped.

That shouldn't be the case - we give you access to your account until 11:59pm - and then we cut over to the new month. Definitely not as early as 3pm - so there could be another issue occurring here.

I can confirm this, I cancelled my capped account before the 25th of this month and it only got disconnected at 11:59pm last night.

@Afriman
Can I send my details to you?
I moved from 4Mbps Home uncapped to 2Mbps Business uncapped and back to 4Mbps Home uncapped, all in a few days.
I received an invoice for 4Mbps Home uncapped, but not for my capped, Hosting and Mobile data packages.

So i'm not sure if I'm being billed for the to and from Business move(you said I wouldn't be billed) or what happened to the rest of my accounts?

I'm not bundled.

We usually do it at midnight - but there could sometimes be delays for open and active sessions. We'll always err on the side of the client rather than terminate sessions early.

Yeah, please drop me a PM. Also, you can always check a statement in ClientZone, which may show charges and credits offsetting each other.

I did check.
There is only the 4Meg Home uncapped invoice.
Will PM you.
Thx

If you're in the South Region, you're probably experience basically maximum shaping during peak hours, and we're seeing some periods of contention where our resources are at maximum demand. We're waiting for Telkom to deliver capacity that we ordered last year in anticipation of Telkom's free line upgrades.
