Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

The internet is crawling in Cape Town. Luckily I've been out enjoying the sunshine for most of the day. This is VERY frustrating, can't even stream at 360p on 10mb line :/

Sorry, that is probably my fault...

1st time in more than a month that this account is actually good for anything.

EDIT:

Crudstix... wrong frikken thread. soz.

My Business Uncapped has been perfect since about 13:30 when it dropped, then reconnected. Ever since, it's flying ;)
Home Uncapped at my Dad is really crappy :(

Anybody else having issues with the Tweak my line feature? I have tried 4 times now.

Telkom just came to fix our line :( I'm trying to get it to sync back to 4mb, the tweak my line forced it down to 2mb when we had issues.

Okay... You could try calling support and getting them to up it for you :)

too many issues....my loyalty is broken....15kb/s on a 4mbps line.

moved to webafrica over the weekend....380kb/s....I'm a happy guy :)

Goodbye Afrihost. Its been real.

18th is Good Friday, a public Holiday. So I doubt the switch will be turned on that day.

The 22nd will be a safer bet. After the long weekend.

Remember that Telkom are one of the few companies who still pay overtime at 2x (1.5x?) rate, so often I have found the technicians are more than willing to work overtime. I've actually had instances where the technician has said he would prefer to come over the weekend because it means he makes more, and it is easier time wise because I am at home. So it could be possible that they do do it over the public holiday. I imagine someone who has such a valuable skill that there are only a tiny number of them in the country probably earns a decent salary that working overtime is worth their while.

Bad luck on the congestion. Best get on Telkoms case :)

Don't you find it strange that all of a sudden, EVERY exchange is congested????
I think the new cards/ports they have installed are borked... can't understand the sudden congestion and high noise levels that are now on once PERFECTLY working lines. Couple that with the obvious IPC/ISP issues, and you have one huge "cluster-fook".

Telkom have done installations for us on a Sunday before - so I imagine they plan around such things. They may specifically want to do it because there is likely to be less traffic on the network.

At the moment that is still the confirmed date from them.
