I could understand if this is on a much more busy network where we're still awaiting upgrades where spikes in latency from demand could affect smooth streaming :(

Same here, btw (South region). But it's always been like that. Streaming (especially Netflix) is and always has been better on my MWeb connection than my Afrihost connection.
 
Is there a fault with the MTN network as I am unable to access any sites hosted by www.reflected.net, however with a WebAfrica account it works

Switching back and forth between the accounts does not fix it on the Afrihost account

Anybody else that can confirm the same results?

EDIT: It broke about a week or two ago. Before that it worked just fine

Same thing here, although mine seems to be due to using UnoDNS. If I try to access via hidemyass.com proxy it loads just fine.
 
I don't know about the UnoDNS or hidemyass stuff, but there does seem to be something up with DNS on Afrihost/MTN.
I was on the auto DNS settings on my router, but could not get to showrss. If I change that to Google's 8.8.8.8, then I can see it again.
It was also not visible from work, which is direct with MTN.
 
Had a couple of slow weeks and my monthly usage is less than 300GB so I decided to hop back on the good old Standard Uncapped 4mbps, you know the one with shaping. Now shaping is not a problem for me, I get why its there and I'm cool with that - its just that I thought they had an upgrade or something and that the old P2P @ 6.25% would have been raised by now? What's the deal with that?
 
What the hell has happened to DNS? I couldnt access half the sites I work with last night and now again this morning in two different locations. Does Afrihost not know how to run DNS servers? Why are they so unreliable?

If anyone else is unable to connect to half the Internet I highly recommend using Google DNS servers. Bloody frustrating working with Afrihosts constantly failing network :(

Been having this issue also since last night... thought it would have been fixed by now.
 
Im actually pissed off about this. I have literally over 100 people phoning me now because they cant access email servers. The techie we called at the help desk is pretty useless. Apparently this issue was reported last night.... but it appears the technical department is underqualified/staffed and no one has been able to resolve this issue.

Feels like amateur hour :( Well done Afrihost, **** up everyones day.
 
Seems like we're having a few problems with sites hosted on CloudFlare like Stacoverflow, Reddit, Eztv and the like. Doesn't seem to be a DNS cluster failure or problem on our side, so we're investigating.

Changing to Google DNS should resolve the issue for now, but otherwise most other sites appear to be still working, and we should ge this sorted quickly :(
 
Yeah pretty much everything failing on the AH DNS, changed to google DNS and everything is working now

No, its not that. I have separate servers in Germany that have nothing to do with Cloudflare or associated networks.
