Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Just a quick tip for those 3rd person Gamers, Defiance is free to play now. Just logged on to the gaming server and just saw online players for miles, way better than it was. Now I don't have to fight 1 against 5 any more lol.
 
I dont get how all your latency is so high??? Mine is 9ms local servers and 180-209 intl on AH
 
Absolutely ridiculous shaping in the North. Afriman, what gives? It's the weekend and I'm shaped to 6%??
 
18.8% Download/ 6.25% P2P. Just got myself a IS account because we could not do anything, so yeah. Flying along nicely now.

Yeah, don't hold your breath. I was shaped down to 18% last month after only 17GB on my 4Mb uncapped. The reason? "congestion" Been like that for close to a whole month now.

I used to be a HUGE fan of Afrihost, but I'm sure as hell shopping around now.

I've activated the "Turbo Boost" function on my account, and I'm still getting speeds I last saw on my 384 line... All the speed tests, and Afrihost client zone tests / pages tell me my connection is fine. All I have left to say, is well play MTNHost, well played <slow clap>

Just for the curious, this is me trying to download the ADT package from the Google Dev site, so not even dodge behaviour.

Same here. I'm SERIOUSLY considering moving ISPs. Is it possible to do a direct line transfer from AH to my new ISP?
 
Hey guys, my brother got his Adsl on Monday with Afrihost. His ADSL line is still in the process of moving to Afrihost, but the Netgear Router he bought at a hefty price from incredible connection (R1500), he thinks the thing doesn't work, got to power off/on the whole time to get the internet back or faster again. Is it the Netgear router that's crap, is it due to the Adsl line still moving or does he have a crappy dsl line maybe?

It's because he's shaped and when he restarts the router it takes a few minutes to restart the shaping on his new session.

Posting a tracert and line stats (SNR/Atten) can only help the diag, and trying another ISP. Rarely is it the router.

I think it's his SNR/Atten, when I was there the other night I saw something with 45 in it when I looked at the stats.
 
Any problems in the south like Cape Town this weekend? My net is not working that nicely, not on my uncapped, 1gb capped or my 1g WA account. All are slow but my ping is normal. Any ideas whats going on?

I used to post on the weekends, but it's generally pretty quiet. You can always PM me - I just need to figure out why MyBB doesn't mail me alerts anymore when I have a PM :(
