I am experiencing very bad Pings for my online games its so bad i cant play , but when i download or browse all is good even torrents get full speed but not my damn online games wtf.

Same issue again this morning - no P2P throughput. Clientzone says no shaping applied.
Login with (10 gig) ITNT account or (free) WebAfrica account -200kB/second.
Afrihost - 1kB/s max

Yeah in Cape Town. Says "No shaping Applied". 0.5 - 0.9kB/s. :( Makes me very sad to see this, actually just want to climb back into bed. Haven't been able to download anything on my account since Monday or say. 4Mb uncapped and i've only used about 125gigs this month. How this constitutes 100% shaping is beyond me...

Yip, I'm on less than 50gigs for the month so far, and getting shaped 100%

Man I dont feel like going through the hassle of changing ISP's now - Webafrica 60 + 120 looks like its the way to go.

Which region are you in? I saw some decent P2P throughput last night, and a few colleagues in the North said same this morning.

That's pretty strange. If you're getting good throughput, we'll need to trace the latency. Is this general latency or only in-game? Maybe run the Network Test App so I can take a quick look.

We're still seeing high demand in the South and we're waiting for word on IPC upgrade for the region. Remember that at the moment we're shaping Uncapped accounts at fixed times, but this is not a permanent change yet. If we do decide to manage Uncapped accounts on this basis, we will update our site and clients. Hopefully when we add new capacity shaping will be relaxed to some extent but it depends on the performance of the network.

I get the shaping, but at least update clientzone and tell us were shapped 99%.

It's Telkoms job to not communicate, not Afrihosts'.

Remoting into our servers takes over 10 minutes. Most sites unable to load.
Douglasdale, Fourways. We are not happy clients at the moment. It's been getting worse since last week.

And the crazy packet loss?? Got kicked 4 times from BF4 last night. Switched to WA account and was smooth sailing?

We're doing our best to keep latency to a minimum, but when demand is at peak it's very possible to see latency and packet loss. I'm seeing especially when we try to unshape in the evenings to allow more shaped services to get more bandwidth, there is a rush of demand which we then manage through "natural" shaping to bring under control. This is just after 10pm.

Does this mean that the new capacity might not even be enough?

Shaping is always going to be part of the Uncapped product, so it's not a question of capacity being enough, but how we will manage the additional capacity and how much freedom we can give on the network. We'll need to monitor performance closely, but we'll use every opportunity to give our client's the maximum bandwidth if we can without being in danger of latency or contention.

Reading your post again, if you were showing as unshaped in the evening, this would be when the network is much quieter and you should not be seeing poor throughput - depending on the time.

Can you maybe send me some more information so I can verify if you were unshaped at the time that you tested?

Sent PM, Afrihost said they reset the line this morning and I should switch off the router - which I did many times ,and like mentioned, when logging on with ITNT and Webafrica - speeds were between 180 and 200kB/s.
Clientzone is a great tool, but if its saying there's no shaping, and theres obviously full shaping, then people become unhappy.

We know there is a hosting issue at the moment, but I don't really have much more info. Seems to be at the Bryanston Data centre affecting certain hosting environments. We're waiting for more information from our technical guys on site :(

Was about to ask "What's up with the mail servers down again?" but rememered you're on twitter.

25 minutes ago - "@Afrihost: We are aware of Web Hosting errors reported. Our technical team are investigating and we will update as we receive information -s"

Just curious if the Clientzone is down as well for technical reasons with the forumites hurling cyber abuse via it, or basically the entire support team decided to get out of the line of fire and take the whole morning(day) off?

You should replace Gavin Davis. Not quite up to Mac's level yet though lol.

I have a minecraft server hosted with oceanhost.co.za. I have never been able to play minecraft on it using my afrihost account (it will log in, but has too much lag to play). Instead I have to use a telkom account. Do you know why this is, and whether anything can be done about it?

Have you been seeing high demand for 5 days straight? No break? Because my speeds have not changed, it has remained this constant crawl as none of my downloads seem to be getting past 3% completion. As mentioned, my clientzone says no shaping applied, but my speeds definitely indicate 100% shaping. Please could you provide me with what times this "fixed shaping" applies? So that i can schedule accordingly and change my monitoring.
