Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback (Pt3)

Not sure what the end game is here? Again, if you have a specific query that you've logged and need a follow up I can gladly do this.
I don't see the benefit (nor do I actually have the exact numbers) around tickets/ queries.

It speaks to violations of the Consumer Protection Act. Should I send this question, with a few more, via Registered Mail? Please reply with your company's domicilium citandi et executandi to which I can address the correspondence I shall use in support of any CPA complaint I make or assist in making.

Also, does your company have a manual pursuant to Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act? If so, where can I obtain a copy?

Also, who would be the best person for the Press to contact at Afrihost?

That's the route to take when a company does not respect its customers rights and is obstructive when being held to account.

As an official representative you are required by law to provide the details I have asked for at your soonest opportunity.

I don't think a public forum is the place to have this requested - you're wanted to go a certain route and continue to do so via the email address I pasted earlier.

Keep well.

These are all details in the public domain and your company is required in terms of the Companies Act and the Promotion of Access to Information Act respectively to provide such details upon request, regardless of the format. Your refusal to provide such details can be considered active obstruction, and will be raised with the appropriate authorities for purposes of investigation and prosecution.

As per our T&C's, this is the correct address and will be handed to the correct department.

Our shaping has been quite standard, shaping can be expected during peak hours I'm afraid :(
Saying this though, there shouldn't be any issues around streaming and other realtime services. What's your latency like at the moment?
Uhm...did you even see my post yesterday regarding the vast YouTube performance difference between uncapped and capped?

How the hell does your monitoring software NOT pick these things up?!

Uhm...did you even see my post yesterday regarding the vast YouTube performance difference between uncapped and capped?

I'm afraid I didn't see your post, no.
Could you PM me a few comparisons please? I'd like to have our team take a better look at this.

Entire weekend YouTube performance has been pathetic. Yes...pathetic. There is no other word for it.

This is Home uncapped

This is Capped - same video

So either you guys are STILL busy after a week sorting out your management software, or you've finished sorting it out and now it's not allocating the correct bandwidth to Home uncapped users wanting to stream.

I said I'd give it till after this weekend and I don't know what I should have expected...but for some reason I am not surprised that it's not fixed. Just empty platitudes by to placate the customers. I don't care about the downloads being shaped, but now giving lesser priority to realtime streaming on uncapped? No thanks. Cancelled.

Feel sorry you guys Afrireps...really I do. Your product you are trying to promote and sell is not even close currently to what your competition has on offer. Hope you fix your network soon.

I'm afraid I didn't see your post, no.
Could you PM me a few comparisons please? I'd like to have our team take a better look at this.

There you go. Quoted.

And again...same song and dance. I don't post tracert's unless there is something markedly wrong. My tracert's and speed tests are always 100% but my performance is shocking.

The whole weekend...that's right the whole weekend...when I used youtube my throughput as patchy as hell. Not on. Which is why I cancelled.

I've trailed 3 different ISPs now and each one just works - hell I'm posting from one right now. I'm not even a power user for heaven's sake! I've JUST topped the 115gb amount for the month on a 4 mb line with all my downloads running after hours as well. So when I want to stream - which your account is seemingly good for - and can't, I have to wonder why the hell I put up with this.

Compared to how great the service - and support - was a couple years ago you guys have fallen. Even back then when there were issues it was dealt with upfront and honestly.

These days it takes a friggin FORUM to post 3 weeks of bad results and the reason for them - just to be met with denial from Afrihost - and then eventually you admit the forum was right all along. Really bloody sad.

I am moving on. For the guys that stay behind I really hope Afrihost returns to their former glory. I'll continue to post my performance between uncapped and capped account till end of the month when my account gets cut. Hopefully someone finds benefit from them.

Whatever was done to the South network in the last 3 hours or so, please undo it T_T
Everything has been perfect the whole day, now ping is sitting at a constant 220 on local servers

Hi G.C

Your 2nd hop's ping is abnormally high :(

Can you please sign up with WA - their free gig account - and run the same traces. Just to rule any account issues. From experience your problem is either a hardware fault on the exchange or just pure congestion :(

Eish.

Now that looks much better!

Just humour me and run a trace with the Afri account now as well please. Generally helpful to run the tests close together as it IS after midnight and you should not have congestion at this hour - usually only during peak.

If the Afri account still shows high latency on 2nd hop right now it's an Afrihost problem. If it doesn't then exchange congestion still remains the most likely suspect.

Seriously! Trying to do urgent work from home while I'm on leave, but everything is so slow, I might as well drive in to work.

That is definitely not right, even with our current network issues.

I have reset your ADSL line as well as your Uncapped account, can you please restart your modem and then test the connection again.

I have reset your ADSL line as well as your Uncapped account, can you please restart your modem and then test the connection again.

Thank you, seems better at the moment.

With how useless the current network is I cannot even sync with Steam to play games - OR I can force it and lose my settings.

Added to this I am unable to now connect to my local mumble server. Well done with your network deployment. I believe we were told at 16:00 and 17:00 respectively that things would improve "within the hour"...ya right.

Oh and before the spin is applied by suggesting it's a line, Telkom, exchange or combination of the above - when using either WA, Mweb or Vox it works perfectly.

This month cannot end fast enough so I can be done with poor service.
