Thanyou Totempole for warning us about the Simpfy separate billing issue.
I have checked my account and also found that Simfy must be cancelled separately from Afrihost+
I cancelled my Simfy account today but cancellation can only take affect on 28 Feb 2015. :(

Shouldn't be the case at all, when you cancel Plus+ it should remove everything with it.
Have you brought this up with our team?

Good Morning MyBB Peoples!

We're running a competition over on our new Answers Knowledgebase, by helping us grow the page you could win ADSL Data and even an awesome MiFi Powerbank, and all you need to do is post a Question or even Answer a Question!

So head over and share some of the wonderful MyBB Knowledge.

There are only two more days of Answers week!

We'll be upping the data giveaways to 250GB today and tomorrow, so get asking (and answering)!

And there's still that awesome Powerbank/3G MiFi up for grabs :)

Hey chaps, how's the 4mbps non business uncapped line for home use?

Thinking of making a move from certain ISP that has a really low data threshold throttle on their 4mbps line, if you know who I mean :wtf:

If you're talking low data thresholds you can't mean us :)

Currently the home 4mb is running like a charm I have to admit.

Scheduled downloads from 00:00 till the morning runs at full speed and realtime streaming is always flawless 99% of the time. Pretty great now that most of the issues of the previous 7 months have been sorted.

Just don't expect to download 24/7.

Glad to hear that your experience is great now. We do our best to learn from our experience so I'd like to think we've just gotten a lot better at managing the network.

I doubt that we'd every want 24/7 downloads on Uncapped, unless the client does not mind being shaped on those downloads :)

Did Afrihost drop prices? I see R597 advertised on the website for 4MB uncapped bundled, but my bank deduction was R676 today.

Sounds like you have some other products on your profile or you were debited a pro-rata rate for something (like maybe Afrihost Plus+ membership - though you would have also paid a full fee for March).

PM me and I'll take a look at you account :(

Seriously Afriman. The Uncapped accounts have been amazing. AMAZING. I'm even getting unshaped status for a few hours during work hours which I've never had as well as unshaped much earlier in the evening now! Can we expect it to be like this from now on?

Is the Afrihost network at full load? What I mean is, all businesses and schools and so on are back right? So this is how the network should be from now on? I ask because December (and January) was amazing since most businesses weren't exactly working at 100% so the network was "light".

9h30 in the morning and my account is set to unshaped. I hope this becomes the norm throughout the year.

We really hope so. Remember that we did a big round of IPC upgrades before the end of last year, so we would expect to have more that enough capacity for the coming period. It all really depends on the conditions and users demand. We expect to see demand stabilise as more clients use mobile, that is growth should remain steady. But if Telkom up line speeds (as we've heard rumours here on MyBB about) then demand will spike as we've seen in recent years. We're doing a lot of planning and analysis for if this should happen though, but there are a lot of moving parts.

But we're really happy that for the moment performance is solid and clients are getting as much bandwidth as we can possibly give back.

Hey Afriman

I also would like to commend Afrihost on my uncapped experience. I haven't been shaped in ages, and the speeds and pings have been great! And youtube is working pretty well too (occasional buffering, but its no where as bad as last year).

I do have a query. I have been downloading games and dlc for my Xbox 360, with a local account. I have been noticing that the speeds are not fast. I have a 4-meg uncapped account, and it took me 2 hours to download a 400 meg file (which it shouldn't on a 4 meg line). I test out the PSN network, and I get full speed on their network. I did all the testing with my account 'with no shaping applied'.

I am not sure if its Microsoft's servers being slow, or maybe something on Afrihost's side. I did speedtests on my line, and everything is work 100%. Would it be possible to investigate?

Thanks

Great to hear that you're having such a good time :D

I've personally seen slow speeds with my Xbox One, not sure if it's a similar glitch on the 360 - but I followed this walkthrough and seen solid speeds every since http://www.reddit.com/r/CodAW/comments/2l3qm8/xbox_one_slow_download_fix/ Let me know if that works for you too :)

Hey Afriman, I tried the settings on the reddit page, and it works like a charm!

I'm guessing microsoft messed up some of their software!

Thanks a lot!

Me thinks so, no idea why that makes such a massive difference. I tested it out across multiple connections and all the same.
Changing the DNS jumped my downloads from 200KB/s up to 750KB/s or there abouts. Glad it worked for you :D

What's Afrihost's AUP/FUP like?

I'm gatvol of Telkom and looking at switching over to an Afrihost 4mb uncapped account.

I reckon I don't get near to 100gb a month at the moment. Would I be looking at getting throttled on Afrihost?

Throttling doesn't exist on our network, period.
While shaping is there it's done dynamically and based on the network load :)
