Just use my Promo Code wVXjyXyQDRzypmCncOWe and Signup for the Free 5GB account and test it for yourself.

I promise you, you wont be disappointed!

I might just check that out! Shot.

Hey

News Server - more detail to be announced. We're busy doing some testing to make sure it's ready for the abuse it will undoubtedly receive :)

We'll be looking at routing and ping times as soon as we get everyone onto the network and stable - so please collect your traceroutes and ping tests ready so we can give that a proper look.

Just a note, I know there are PM's I need to get to - will try and get those sorted before the end of the day. Just bear with me, trying to answer questions and help with the MTN move.

Any ETA on setting up routing for CPT users so it doesnt go via JHB all the time? This is stopping me getting a 4mb uncapped account at the moment. Latency is important.. and as jackshiels says it's adding at least 60ms to all my pings on the test rage account

This is under discussion, as we take the feedback very seriously. At this stage we can to make sure we can walk before we can run. Considering that this is very new territory for us as an ISP, we feel things are going very well and we should be in a position to look at this very soon.

I assume the concern is related to gaming? We know MTN are keen to make this the premiere gaming network in the country. They have VERY big plans for the near future :)

Actually I don't game at all :-) I just spend a lot of time using SSH to remote servers in MTN's CPT datacenters... and a 8ms ping from my MWEB connection vs. a 60+ms ping from MTN is somewhat annoying.. also I use GMAIL a lot (google apps for business) and I see MTN aren't routing to the google.cinx.net.za peer which is hosted in CPT (i get a 0.5ms ping from my CPT hetzner server to the google ZA mirrors which means it's pretty much in the same DC as MTN CPT)

What type of tests do your network guys prefer? Maybe a standard set of tests we can supply to help getting latency (and other issues) sorted?

well remember that the MTN CPT IPC isnt on yet, also have you tried forcing your way to the locally hosted google servers by added local dns records on your router / hostsfile ?
