Sorry Afriman, "real time services" includes being able to open a pdf!
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
As I've said in previous comments, it's dependant on usage patterns, but many of these clients would have experienced the same priority/QoS settings, and still accessed this amount of bandwidth. Granted it would have been over December when there was a lot less demand, so you can also factor that in![]()
No offense or insult is intended at all. I think it's not a question of the network being on it's knees. The fact the real time services continue to perform well shows that we can maintain a stable network, and a good internet experience, even when demand is extremley high. We do acknowledge that some of our clients are having a difficult time when it comes to downloads, and we hope that when that is relieved, you'll grow to appreciate (perhaps aspire to) our leaderboard page![]()
The fact the real time services
And who decides what is real time services, the customers using the particular service, or the ISP supplying the service?
So when you don't have capacity for downloads most of the time, it's a good idea to create a download competition?
I still think someone in your marketing department needs to be fired. Worst. Idea. Ever.
Complete bulls**t, I'm sorry to say. Totally disproven by the maths and how much they downloaded.
Example 1:
1) 1mbps leader: 380.07 GB
- Thats about 0.142MB/s
- Comes to just around 1mb/s for 24/7 for 31 days.
Possible Reasoning
1) They get special treatment on the network (Eh, no)
2) They're pushing their lines 24/7 using VPNs, solutions like put.io and furk. - Affecting the experience of others.
Any comment on this? @AfriMan. I'd just like an honest opinion/explanation. I'm not angry with you in particular. ISPs like MWeb offer a stable experience with their AUP but limit you in their T&Cs about VPNs and seedboxes, what's Afrihost's stance on these services that are immune to your QoS?
And who decides what is real time services, the customers using the particular service, or the ISP supplying the service?
@afriman
Do you consider opening a PDF document as part of the real time services?
Currently this is affected by the shaping of downloads. Is this going to be fixed?
PDF Files should be banned from the internet!
