Yes it is possible. When I cancelled, I cancelled just the data portion. Seeing the ISP's make a profit out of having our lines with them, I didn't want to give any more money to these thieving b******s, so once I was up and running with my new ISP, I then started the process of moving my line back to telkom, all done through the client panel.

PM me the ISP you with. What have I got to lose?

Downloading a 3Gb file via a DL manager and i says 8days, 19hrs, 23min until its completed! My 28.8 modem was faster than this.

Afriman i need some convincing here , Plugg Isp have a deal that is cheaper than yours , is backed by IS , and thus far people are singing its praises .

Why should this long time member and fan of your company stay with you ?

We know there are currently some issues, and we'll be addressing these during the course of the coming weeks. We'll be publishing some updated on our network upgrades early next week, and we are confident we are well on track ensuring all our clients get great service.

Drop me a PM so we can chat more :)

SHAME ON YOU AFRIHOST!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!

Do an HTTP download using a DL Manager and not even getting 20k on a 1MB line! And all it is...is some Cisco CCNA and CCNP and CCIE study material!

AH - You should be ashamed of yourself!

Sorry to hear this, I can imagine how frustrating this must be. Drop me a PM, and we'll see if there's a way we can improve your experience.

Will do but dunno hey...this been going on for days now. Getting different stories each time a call ur CSC. My 3G is way faster than this.

Check line attentuation, check for line noise, checkd for CRC, checkd number of routes using VisualRoute, checked my network to see if spyware running wild, checkd for viruses, trojans nd anything else that can cause problems. Even checkd for DoS attack...nd NADA on all above. Changed router from netgear to dlink...still nothing. Changd account details from uncapped to capped nd significant speed increase..not full 1MB but way better.

I got a simple solution today from Afrihost. Move to a afrihost unshaped capped account and the troubes dispear. Move back to uncapped account and its back to 5kbp/s downloads. Clearly this isn't just shaping. I've been told to hang on till monday next week for the engineer to have a look at the shaping issues. The support I've recieved is somewhat great, however in terms of dsl access this is taking uncapped account download speeds specifically down to zero to compensate for network issues. Not good enough afrihost :(

100% correct. Just bought a 2gb capped account to test: here are the speedtests:

Capped: (220ping intl, 3.4mbps download)

UnCapped: (656ping intl, 547kbps download)

And just for mos, Voda 3g: (216ping intl, 1.8mbps download)

Last Saturday I was on Afrihost Uncapped - tried to download Adobe Reader - just the installer at 975kb wouldve taken 3hours (hate to think what the actual download of a few meg wouldve taken) - was getting bps trf rate - not even 1kbps.

I had Afrihost capped 50gb for a few months, ran very well, then they came out with those great uncapped rates - so I changed - my advice - avoid Afrihost uncapped at all costs........

I am very happy about the support I've received from Afrihost. I am just hoping a solution can be found for this shaping problem as I would like to stick to their uncapped service :)

Your international latency is rather shocking... my average international is 216ms... you must have exchange congestion or something ... won't say much on my int download at it barely gets over 1MB...

I am in Cape Town on an Uncapped account and we don't even have an IPC yet...

I thought MTN brought the CPT IPC online this past week???

According to Afrihost CPT has 3Gbps IPC live, http://www.afrihost.com/microsites/adsl_network/?homeslide

http download speeds have improved! now at least getting 26k :) beats the 5k max i had before. torrents are still lower than 5 but at least http is faster now! thanks afriman!

Just cancelled my 10mb uncapped bundle. I've been experiencing the worst dsl service of my life over the last month and I've exchanged tons of emails with support.

It seems that when they get to the point where they themselves do not know what the problem is they simply respond with the "Copy Paste" replies and close your ticket.

What I can comment on though is that when I used the capped packages the service was a pleasure. However having pretty much the cheapest 10mb uncapped bundles in SA convinced me to give it a try, mistake. I guess you get what you pay for.

I am getting the same issues at the moment. There is a problem with my ADSL line which is managed by Afrihost. It has been ongoing since November. Everyone time i respond to an email i get a reply from someone else. Feel like i am now stuck in a support loop.

I'm only getting a 100kbps on my 4-meg uncapped account today. I'm guessing there is something wrong with my line, since I don't anyone else complaining.

Afriman has contacted me regarding this so hopefully it will be sorted out.
