Rofl oh yes because they surely cant just create optimized route policies to speedtest.net. l2network, and perhaps dont do it to a network HOSTED at MTN haha. Do it to london.

That's quite an accusation, actually. Care to back it up?

Well they've done everything else underhanded surely they've done something there. And obviously i dont have access to their routing policies, but its funny how speedtest is always nice but in reality downloads are ****. Point in case everyone in this thread complaining about speed.

I guess that they're optimising my NNTP transfers as well? Oh woe is me.

Everything underhanded? Sheesh.

10mbp line? That's pretty slow shouldn't you be peaking at 1meg? :)

So you may be getting good speeds but the bad numbers out weight the good. But of course you can keep punting how awesome afrihost is and hopefully they will give you some advertising budget.

I see the Afrihost Android app is not giving me what my data consumption currently is. It just tells me that my line is active, gives me an IP address but where the bar graph reflects data used, there is nothing there.

Anyone else?

Thanks for the heads up, we've resolved the issue and a new update is being published as we speak. Normally takes an hour or two for Google to make it available in the store :)

My experience with Afrihost has been great!
I have had to do the odd router reboot, but its not like it is the end of the world!
Youtube streaming is perfect, P2P was awesome yesterday, NNTP is perfect, HTTP cold still be improved a bit.
But the overall experience with Afrihost is great!

I guess I would not suggest you contact AfriMan with your issue.
Cause you probably wont.....and he would not have the opportunity to help you then.
:)

I am on a home, shaped service. I seriously do not expect 1MB/sec during office hours - that would not be reasonable. Off peak, 1MB/sec is easily sustained. 600KB/sec on NNTP is awesome during office hours.
Yes, I get some of their advertising budget. How? Because they spend it on discounting their packages, but you'd know that already since you already know everything about how afrihost works, right?

Why not go give him a reach around then.

You are most welcome to have an opinion, but this thread is for feedback, not for personal insults. If you are a client and unhappy, please PM me and I'm pretty sure I can help. If you're not a client, but have something to say, PM is also cool. But trolling our feedback channels just prevents me from helping those who need it.

You're always welcome to create your own threads, so please respect ours :)

Sinbad, I am still awaiting my answer as to what either than my current Afrihost package I should use, as it was your honest opinion I should not be using my line for my income. I am a web developer.

Thanks.

We don't optimise speedtest in any way, I've said this many times. Running a London speedtest will give a completely different result to any local test, I'm not sure what the point of comparing vastly different test results is.

A business ADSL line would be a good start? I assume you're on one of the home uncapped options?

I see what you're saying, and you are 100% right. But from my point of view you must also understand that I'm fed up and have been complaining about this via tickets and phone calls for a long time.

I came here because I am fed up and was about to explode, no other reason. If you guys are happy that's great, but I am/was not happy at all for a long time. I don't want to fight or argue to be honest (enough of that happens in our country) - so we can agree to disagree (if we are disagreeing that is)

Cheers and good luck. I am going back to being a professional lurker. :)

Hey Mike

Sorry to hear you are having such an uphill battle. It really shouldn't be that way at all, and I just want you to know that I am here to help. Please drop me a PM, whether you decide to stay or leave, cos I'd love to chat to you and I know we can learn a lot from your feedback. If there is a chance we can improve your experience, even if it's until you decide to leave us, then I'd really be grateful for the opportunity to do so.

You can PM me anytime :)

So by your logic someone should pain stupid premiums for above average quality.
