Oh ffs now starts my Telkom Exchange Congestion! There goes Youtube

my Afrihost performance capped and uncapped, the result that I've circled in red is my first speedtest after switching to uncapped at the end of January this year, that history starts on 14th March 2012 so shows performance over a year

I can't any more. This afternoon's excitement was short-lived. :(

AfriMan, surely it can't be that difficult to figure out what's different between the two accounts?

Might, and I stress *MIGHT*, have been my wife streaming goddamn Simon's Cat in HD on her Galaxy S3. :o Will monitor over the weekend...

I see HTTP downloading is running between 300KBs and 400KB/s

At this stage we are still reviewing and as far as I am aware everyone is still unshaped :)

Keep it unshaped, c'mon. You guys can do it :D. It seems my post went missing but how many votes you need to prove to you guys, 100 / 1000 / 10000 :p. We are all here ...

Hi Afriman

Can you confirm the thresholds are still the same? As 160GB a week on a 4mb line is a excellent deal. Once normal Afrihost goes back to shaped I am moving to unshaped

We published them a while back in this thread - But that sounds about right. Send me a PM and I'll dig those numbers up :)

I seem to be getting spikes on Afrihost uncapped. Especially in BF3, its fine stable pings, and then it starts jumping around. Sometimes even spiking into the 400+, with nothing running on the line.

Same issues in Dota2 (local servers now). Works 100% no issues, then it gets jittery :/

Latency still bad... no idea what is going wrong, want my sub 190 back

As far as I know we're still unshaped, but officially it was only guaranteed for a week (which has passed). As we said in the article, we're reviewing and monitoring so that when we do shape, we can still deliver a great experience.

This is the first line in the article that appeared in My BB on 8th March "Afrihost has announced that it will ‘un-shape’ all its uncapped ADSL traffic following an upgrade to its ADSL network." Further down in the article it says "Afrihost said that its upgraded network is performing at excellent levels, which gave them the confidence to “completely unshape all uncapped ADSL traffic”.

“The decision to do this is mainly intended to thank and reward our uncapped ADSL clients for their patience and support while the upgrades were in progress,” said Afrihost.

“The second objective is to demonstrate the capabilities of the upgraded network – in terms of delivering exceptional throughput and a low latency ADSL experience.”

Afrihost is confident that their additional capacity will more than handle the additional traffic, and after a week has passed they will re-assess their current shaping policies.

“We will absorb the cost of additional unshaped bandwidth completely,” the company said.

I hope that this spokepersons pants are still on fire!!

So this shows excellent latency, so so throughput on a 4MB line, http fine, youtube zero buffer, torrents 10.1kb/s (dismal really)
