yep, same bad speeds here, beginning to regret waiting past the 25th to give it another chance :(

i dont care about p2p or nntp speeds, just normal stuff
getting 78KB/s on multiple http downloads on afrihost uncapped 2mb account,
getting full 2mb line speed on my telkomsa account

If you consider getting half of what I pay for as 'fine', then my weekend was 'fine' too.

Today I'm back to a bit less than one fourth of what I pay for.

Question,

Is the Afrihost uncapped month to month?

I am currently in limbo and may need to move soon so I don't want to be locked into anything for longer than a month.

So if I sign up today can I cancel it this month and not be charged for next month?

It's month to month but you must cancel before the 25th of the current month or you will get charged for the next month.

Interesting - using speedtest.net, and saix.net shows I am getting 3.5mbps. Using Mybb shows 1mbps.

The 1st two are CPT based servers, the 3rd is a JHB server.

Cancelling before the JHB IPC upgrade? CPT one has certainly fixed the issue.

Nothing fixed on my side. I got slightly better speeds over the weekend, but today it's 1/4 line speed again.

Has anyone else noticed that you get random disconnects from AH? Every couple of days my account just disconnects. I manually restart my router now in order to counter it, but the line doesnt even stay connected for 48 hours now before it disconnects. (im talking about my ppp connection to AH)

Never had this. Was connected 6 days before I bounced the router this morning

Have to check in my log files, but so far no random disconnects.

Feedback from an Afrihost Uncapped 10mbps user from Cape Town

Despite what was said at the end of last week, achieved sub-satisfactory speeds on my line over the weekend and on getting home from work today:

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2213943579.png

Bearing in mind I usually get the full 10mbps.

Absolutely pathetic from Afrihost. I realise this problem is with IS but your loyal subscribers could & should have been offered some sort of gesture from yourselves in terms of reduced subscription rates for this month or some free unshaped data or anything to make this painful wait worth our while.

So much for the upgrades being completed in Cape Town. Based on my evidence and that posted above me, that story is pure balderdash.

Would Afrihost subscribers who have a 1mb account (upgraded from 384k) have better results? My brother in law who is a lot more computer-savvy than I swears by Afrihost, although he has had a 384k account for some time

Same experience here. I'll reverse my cancellation though if the issues are resolved soon, I really don't want to have to hop around to different ISPs.
